Okay guys, the truth is right in front of us. This team has serious holes and they need to be filled. Preferably, a trade is the best option for us, so this thread will be dedicated to the trade ideas that spring from the creative minds of you people. Which trade might help our team? Which team might not? Ideas please. Please explain why you think the trade would help our team and why the other team would accept it. And also, to verify the trade and the validity of the salary issues, please check your idea on http://realgm.com/src_tradechecker.php first.

All unreasonable trades will be deleted. The Rockets will not trade McGrady or Yao. Let's be realistic here.

    Here are my two ideas:

Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.4 apg in 24.1 minutes)
SG Bostjan Nachbar (3.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 14.7 minutes)
Memphis trades: C Lorenzen Wright (6.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 24.4 minutes)
PG Earl Watson (8.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 4.9 apg in 21.0 minutes)

Due to Memphis and Houston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Memphis and Houston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

*This trade helps our team because Earl Watson would be a good option for a starting point guard, and Lorenzen Wright would be a good defensive and rebounding power forward. The Grizzlies do this trade because they would like Juwan Howard's experience to help fortify their front and be insurance in case Stromile Swift leaves their team after this season. Nachbar is a good developing player and Lue would replace Watson's role.

    -------------------------------------------------------

Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
PG Tyronn Lue (6.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.4 apg in 24.1 minutes)
New Orleans trades: PF PJ Brown (8.6 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.7 apg in 34.1 minutes)
PG Darrell Armstrong (9.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.5 apg in 28.8 minutes)

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to New Orleans and Houston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans and Houston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

*This trade helps the Rockets because PJ Brown is an upgrade over Howard and helps rebounding and defense wise. Armstrong is a good veteran to have come off the bench and push the tempo a bit. The Hornets do this trade because they are lacking a scoring punch to help out on offense, which Howard provides. Lue is also good to come off the bench and is a younger version of Armstrong.

Houston trades: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
Houston receives: PG Eric Snow (4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 4.2 apg in 23.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.7 ppg, -1.3 rpg, and +3.7 apg.
Cleveland trades: PG Eric Snow (4.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 4.2 apg in 23.4 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PF Juwan Howard (7.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.7 ppg, +1.3 rpg, and -3.7 apg.

    Trade Accepted-
Due to Houston and Cleveland being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Cleveland had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

This helps our team because we will be getting a legit true point guard that can run on the fast break as well as run the half court offense and defense that Jeff Van Gundy requires of his players. I have seen Eric Snow alot playing for the 76ers and he is a great addition to a team. He shows leadership that we lack in our team as well as athleticism, something that our team needs to most. With the loss of Howard, we can perhaps give Weatherspoon more consistent minutes, who is a great defensive player and rebounder, and would be a great complement to our developing Yao.

Cleveland would be getting a strong powerforward that puts up numbers in the low post. Howard would be a nice player to have backing up Drew Gooden, who has been putting up nice numbers as of late. It would be an upgrade over Robert Traylor, Scott Williams (swingman for center), and Ira Newble. It would make an incredibly deep front court complementing their great backcourt with the likes of Jeff McInnis, Lebron James and Dajuan Wagner.

I don't know if Cleveland would do your trade, but Snow would be a great guy to have at point guard. When the Magic had both Gooden and Howard, Gooden's production decreased because Howard had taken some of his minutes. Many blame Howard for Gooden's bad season last year, so would the Cavs be so happy to reunite these buddies? Snow though would be better than Ward, but he's also on the decline, and is injury-prone at his age.

I was thinking more of Howard getting less minutes than Drew Gooden and playing mostly backup unless someone gets injured. Yeah, I realized that Juwan did take up some of Gooden's minutes in Orlando, but Cleveland can play him as less or much minutes as they see to it, and if they feel they want to play Gooden more, its at their own will. Well, yeah I see what your getting at though. As for Eric Snow, I haven't been tracking him on his new team so I wouldn't know about injuries, but I do know that he has reached and maybe already is over his prime at the age of 31. So, after rethinking this, I guess it would be better to try and get a more athletic point guard who is younger.

I like the PJ Brown trade, but the Hornets need all the frontcourt help they can get right now with Magloire out, so I don't know if they'd get rid of PJ Brown. I don't know if they'd want to take Lue for Armstrong either, since Armstrong is a much better player, though he's older.

How about a trade involving Howard for Chris Andersen? He's an energy and hustle guy who can block shots and rebound.. Pretty much do the things Kelvin Cato did last season.

I tried to make a trade for Andersen too, but it did not allow me to because he had just recently signed a new contract with New Orleans. We'd have to wait a while then to get him.

After T-Mac, our next three biggest contracts go to power forwards, Juwan Howard and Mo taylor have real big contracts but they arent living up to them so trading is real hard. IS there some way we can maybe get nene

Probably not. Right now the Nuggets take alot of pride in their front court with the likes of Nene, Martin, and Camby. None of our powerforwards are as good as Nene and their salaries are substantially more expensive than his as well. We really have nothing to offer them that they would want for their team since their PF position is awesome right now, and the only positions expendable on our team are PG and PF.

Another trade possibility that might work could be to try to get Alonzo Mourning. I know it's kind of risky, but I'm sure Zo would do some of the things like block shots and rebound that the Rockets need, and he can hit the open 15 footer. But can they count on him night in and night out with his health? The Rockets could send Taylor to NJ - the Nets need a scorer and Taylor can fill it up. There would have to be other players involved to make the trade work though.

For some reason, Van Gundy likes to small, puny PFs this year. He's only played Mo Taylor, Juwan Howard, and Scott Padgett at PF this season. I have doubts that he'd want Zo for that position.

Zo would not be desirable. He is not the player he used to be with injuries and all, and he cannot log big minutes every game. Also, why need him when we have a similar player in Mutombo? Mourning at power forward would also have the same effect as having Mutombo there. They'd slow us down.

Zo's not that slow, he should be fine for 25-30 mins a game. I watched a few Nets games and he can still do a lot of the things he used to do. He's definitely more skilled offensively than Mutombo. My only concern is more health problems take him out and then the Rockets would be left with a big hole to fill.

Any other suggestions? How about Steven Hunter from the Suns? He's long and athletic and did a good job guarding Yao in Orlando last season.

btw, Kelvin Cato is 5th in the league in blocks [IMG]

In what scenario do u guys think we can get Kurt Thomas from the Knicks? Might have to be a 3 team trade because I don't think the Knicks want our "expendable" guys back, ie. Charlie Ward and Weatherspoon.

Thomas might be a good guy to have, but I wouldn't want him unless we give up one of Mo Taylor or Juwan Howard in the process. If these three are on our team together, it'll be hard to allot playing time. However, both Taylor and Howard are not attractive on the trade market and we'd have to maybe give up even both of them to get Thomas. I think we should settle with a lower-profile player who can give us hustle and defense. Maybe Jeff Foster or Scot Pollard in Indiana, or Brendan Haywood in Washington?

You guys have to be kicking yourselves right now with the Mavs giving up Bupkus to get a solid vet Point Gaurd in Darrell Armstrong.

Armstrong could have helped us, but I think we have a few other holes in our lineup. I think Sura and Lue or Ward will be sufficient when they are all healthy. I'm concerned about our backup SG/SF and having a PF who will work hard on the boards and play solid defense every night. Taylor and Howard are like dead weights.

If we could somehow get rid of Taylor AND Howard in one trade for a solid rebounder and defender at the 4 position, I say we go for it.

Another possibility is Danny Fortson and/or Reggie Evans in Seattle. Both are premier rebounders and defenders, and it would not take much to get them. Maybe we can even deal Nachbar to get one of them. That'll be great, but we'll be stuck with both Mo and Howard on the bench.

i think we should go for danny fortson, what about fortson for howard? They both should have around the same salary, maybe we can even throw in a draft pick or prospect since its doubtful theyd take it.

I think it's less likely the Sonics would deal Evans. He's playing great for them so far, and has started every game of the season. In just 26 minutes, Evans is great 9 rebounds a game. Fortson, on the other hand, would be more expandable and easier to get because he has a pretty big contract, and is very foul-prone. However, we sorely need his rebounding and post defense. The Sonics might bite on Howard, because what they need is a scorer down low.
