The Nuggets lame excuse for having not integrated Allen Iverson into it's schemes for winning is that Iverson is "not a pure point guard" and we think that that is what we need right now. Ok Nuggets, I'll run with your premise and see how far I get. I'll agree for purposes of argument that he's not a pure point guard and can not be designated as a point guard. So surely the mightly Detroit Pistons could not possibly assign him to the point guard position, right? Of course they could not and would not. They would be off their rockers if they did it; they would be making a big mistake that would cost them a lot of games. They would be disrespecting basketball. They would be.... Umm, I hate to break it to you, Nuggets, but the Pistons have other ideas: Pistons Depth Chart--Sportsline Pistons Depth Chart--Fox Sports Pistons Depth Chart--ESPN Pistons Depth Chart--Yahoo Sports Why those nasty, no good Pistons, trying to make it seem like Iverson can be a point guard. Who do they think they are, anyway? Everyone knows that if a guard is not a pure point guard he can not be called a point guard. Damn those Pistons. They will see the light and change this soon enough. They have a lot of nerve, I tell you. Seriously, every month or so, I will post the current depth charts, to see if the Pistons do in fact change this.
I'm gonna report those nasty Pistons to the League and they are going to get fined. They'll see; they will get what's coming them: a big, fat, juicy fine. You can't call Iverson a point guard and expect to get away with it. Those nasty Pistons, they are just a bunch of gangsters who have no credibility.
You do understand the Pistons traded for Iverson because of his expiring contract more than anything, right? I mean its not like they're completely throwing this season away, but there's a reason a GM as smart as Dumars was willing to break apart a team that's performed strongly several years in a row and its not because he thinks AI will push them over the top.
Based on the press conference, it really seemed otherwise. It really sounded like Dumars thought AI was what could put them over the top for a title. Maybe I looked in to a bit much, but that's certainly what it seemed like to me. Though I do agree with you. This, more than anything, seems like a glorified cap dump. They're going to rent him for the next 77 games or so and then let him and his $21mil contract walk. I don't know what they'll do with that space, since most of the big names on the market won't be there 'til 2010, but who knows.
That's great analysis Tremaine. It takes a real maverick to say that the Pistons won't bench Rip Hamilton or start him at PG. sigh
Yeah, that dirty dawg Dumars, fooling Iverson like this and throwing away the Pistons season. Of course, there is only one possible way the future can play out and Dumars and everyone with half a brain knows it. There is one and only one way that things can play out. For example, regardless of what Iverson does while posing as a point guard, wink wink and nod nod, everyone knows that Iverson will demand too much money for Dumars to want him to stay on the team. Everyone knows that Iverson will not knock a few million dollars off his maximum possible contract in order to try to stay in Detroit. So this is all just one big game that dirty dawg Dumars is playing. Iverson is a pure 2-guard and someone needs to fine the Pistons or the owner needs to fire Dumars ASAP.
