Post all crap you can find on Marco BellyNellie here. Having watched some highlight videos (lol) I think hes a good shooter and athlete. Don't see him penetrating a whole lot and I have no idea how his defense is but seems like a good pick. NBADraft.net scouting report: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBA Comparison: Ray Allen Strengths: Despite his age he plays the game with maturity and intelligence, and has a great deal of experience ? Ball handling ability is top notch as he can lead the fast break or take opposing guards off the dribble ? Belinelli is one of the best shooters off the dribble anywhere in his age group ? Even more impressive is that he needs little time to get his shot off thanks to his ultra quick release ? Moves extremely well without the ball using an assortment of cuts and fakes to get open ? Works very well off of picks and screens where he is superb off the catch and shoot ? Possesses legit three point range ? Mechanically he does everything well no matter if he is off balance he always keeps his body fully squared ? Defensively he possesses great anticipation skills and quick hands which enable him to disrupt passing lanes ? Does not get intimidated by pressure situations nor when facing physical defenders ? Mid-range shooting has improved as he is starting to fuse this with his long range shooting and slashing ability ?. Extremely coachable player who has a solid work ethic ? Athletically he shows solid leaping ability and quickness ? A great finisher in the open court ? Weaknesses: Defensively he may struggle to defend more athletic shooting guards as his lateral quickness is average at best ? Tends to get caught up in shooting from the perimeter instead of driving the lane and drawing fouls. Should concentrate on becoming more aggressive using his athleticism to attack the basket ? Ball protection is a work in progress as Belinelli can get careless with the ball ? Does not make much of an impact on the glass ? Needs to continue to work on conditioning as he shown the tendency to get worn down as the season progresses ? Court vision leaves a little to be desired ? Doesn?t convert shots when contact occurs on his drives due to his lack of upper body strength ? Belinelli can go through streaky periods where he struggles with shooting consistency ? Matthew Maurer - 12/5/2006 Strengths: The top Italian guard prospect for at least 10 years, can play both guard positions, but he definitely prefers to play PG due to his leadership qualities. He's a natural scorer: can shoot from three very well, hit the middle-range jumper or finish with a lay-up. Has a great fake and hesitations package, which he uses to beat his defender off the dribble or on fast-break. Excellent ball-handler and very good passer as a PG, deadly one-on-one skills as SG. Despite his offensive skills, he's also a solid team player. Very good athleticism makes him able to dunk in many ways and, with quick feet and legs, defend on speedy opponents. Knows the game very well and has an above average basketball IQ. A key characteristic is he always plays at a high intensity level (even in a friendly match). His outlook is bright: he can grow to 6-7 and become a Marko Jaric type of player with more offensive awareness and shooting qualities. Weaknesses: Needs to increase his body strength and weight, without losing speed and quickness, to absorb physical contact and defend bigger guards. Also needs to learn many aspects about the PG position at high level as he accustomed to playing with poor quality teammates (in young division) and taking all the shots. Another weakness is the low experience although this should be no surprise considering his age. Ettore Poli - 3/5/2003</div> http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/marcobelinelli.html

NBADraft.net scouting report: http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/marcobelinelli.html</div> The Writing on the wall is adios to Pietrus -Azu we are going econo and will accept the downgrade if that is the outcome. I'd HOPE the W's did their homework on rd 2,because Bellinelli just replicates what we have a surplus of....or more likely is just going to replace Pietrus/Azu with LESS D-rebounding-penetration and more outsie jumpers. You may guess I'm not tickled. At BEST....he skims off a few minutes from J Rich-Monta-Jax and there's some redistribution of FGA's. At worst...Mully/Nellie think this guy lets us abandon both Barnes and Pietrus....which would add up to a big loss in rebounds and D for sure, though we'd save some cash as we round up a few Devo leaguers or undrafted FA's to tryout at the minimum.
Rudy Fernandez just went, but he's got a million dollar buyout on him. Isn't there some way a team could bend the rules to get him the extra money? Hire him to be the equipment manager with a million up front? I thought of it merely because I'm hoping teams are scared enough about the buyout that Splitter will slkip all the way to the next W's pick. And, maybe if this Kaponen guy slips to the last spot... that'd be a damn satisfying draft, for me at least.
I thought Rudy Fernandez was supposed to be better than this guy? I hope he turns out to be like Ginobili like I have heard him compared to. Sounds like this guy can back up Baron at PG...
I think Marco is supposed to have star-quality, or "that thing," from what I've read. If I'm not mistaken, I think he's something of a pop-icon in Italy. Some compare him to Brent Barry or Vinnie Del Negro -- but I'd say more like Ginobli. This guy is athletic and finish off the dribble. He dropped 25 against LeBron and team USA in the Olympics, too. Well his highlites look impressive. But something that lack in them is any type of passing. Looking at his stats he doesn't seem to be that great of a playmaker off the pass. But overall I am somewhat impressed, especially for a pick at 18. I don't know how he will eventually fit in. Obviously the JRich trade makes things more interesting.
I know I was kind of being sarcastic. He's an unknown and that could be bad for coaches who want to win now.
<div class="quote_poster">Warriorfansnc93 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I am not too impressed. This guy reminds me of Jiri Welsch</div> I think this guy can create his shot a little better than Jiri. But definitley there could easily be comparisons. This guy looks like he can knock down shots with hands in his face and under pressure which looks impressive. He seems as if he can jump much higher as well. I just wonder where exactly he fits on the team. I hope his passing skills are better than his stats say.
Welsch was slow, inconsistent and turnover prone. Marco has been a top Italian prospect for several years. He has excellent fundamentals, and has confidence and leadership, thriving in the Olympics. He seems much more proven than Jiri was. But of course you never know... and then sometimes you do
Can I request a title change to "Official guy the Warriors took that the Suns wanted so in return the Suns traded another draft pick away thread"? It would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe I should have said a more athletic version of Jiri Welsch. It really is probably an unfair comparison based off 2 minutes of highlights which were just repetitions of the same play 3-4 times...
This is the highest quality vid of Jelly Belly I have seen. Almost 8 mins too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNxZ4_O8R8M
I've been watching this kid in Europe for years now and when your club picked him up I wasn't surprised. He's an offensive machine and easily adaptable to different offensive strategies. He would have to be brought in and shown the ropes and I would expect him to take at least a third of the season to adjust, but over a short time he will be able compliment the Warriors' current roster very well. If I were you guys I'd be really excited about your pick ups in this year's Draft. This is an excellent way to go about things after having a successful return to the post-season.
Kid can really shoot the ball. I'm a huge fan of him and the Warriors got a nice player with the pick. From watching his videos on YouTube, he really seems like he can score from anywhere on the court. His offensive game appears to be polished already and he could come in and contribute as a shooter at the next level.

This guy has a certain attitude of almost complete arrogance and cockiness. I don't think it will be a problem for the Warriors but I think it could turn other teams sour, hah. I still haven't seen enough clips of him passing (perhaps only two). He does look like Reggie Miller wih the catch and shoot or dribble and J's from the perimeter. I haven't seen much on his decision making though. It seems like he relies on the same few things. However give this guy a screen on the perimeter and he'll be deadly. Pick and rolls between AB(and perhaps Wright) with Marco could be a lethal play for this team.
I hope this thread attracts some Italian nationals who follow this kid. I wanna hear it from the guys who watch him a lot. It's like how chuck.be (Belgium) and dutchwarriorfan (Netherlands) drop by from time to time to give us the scoop on some euroleaguers.
