LOS ANGELES (AP)—Boston center Kendrick Perkins’(notes) sprained right knee will keep him out of Game 7 of the NBA finals. Celtics coach Doc Rivers confirmed Wednesday that his starting center won’t play in the season finale against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, dealing a blow to Boston’s hopes of winning its 18th championship. Perkins was hurt midway through the first quarter of Boston’s 89-67 loss in Game 6 on Tuesday night when he landed awkwardly after battling under the hoop with Lakers center Andrew Bynum(notes). Perkins sprained multiple ligaments in his knee, according to Rivers. Perkins says he’s devastated to miss the game, but expects his teammates to fill in admirably. Rasheed Wallace(notes) or Glen Davis(notes) likely will start in Perkins’ place. Source: Y! Sports
Big ass blow to Boston. I hope L.A. doesn't let up, though. Rasheed can be deadly if he's on. This should open things up in the middle, though. 1 more game!
Gasol better play strong tomorrow. I know he had a nice stat line last night, but he played like a pussy. I want to see him attacking the rim like a center and not fading from contact. Draw those fouls on the Boston front line and wear them down. I felt he was giving up the rock too easily last night even when he had deep post position. Lucky for him Artest was hitting those shots otherwise those are wasted opportunities and run out baskets by Boston.
Nah we would never do that, did you hear us say if it wasn't for KG last season it'd be a different story. Fucking bad news for the C's, it will suck not having another big body to throw out there to defend Gasol/Bynum.
I feel bad for Perk. I love basketball, and I'm sure he does, and it always sucks to have to sit and watch your team play the most important game of the season, and you can't be out there to help.
Gasol affects the game in various ways, he doesn't need 28 points. I wouldn't mind feeding him more though.
Shape, it doesn't matter. He was quite valuable yesterday and a nice passer. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gasolpa01/gamelog/2010/ Love the Game Score production.
Those aren't passes I want to see him making though. 2 feet from the rim and he's kicking it out to Ron Artest in the corner? That is dumb basketball and a low percentage look.
Well I think Kobe is taking some low percentage shots, but they went in didn't they? I wouldn't suggest he carries the workload if the role players are feeling it.
What does that have to do to the conversation? I'm pointing out Gasol specifically because he's our center and is responsible for doing his damage in the paint. When I see him catching passes two feet from the basket and passing out back out to Ron Artest for a corner three its dumb basketball and "soft" finesse play. We don't need that approach from Gasol we need him getting hard points and drawing fouls.
What I see out of Kobe are some pretty bone headed shots outside the paint. You could easily criticize Kobe as well. They don't have to be perfect or "tough" always, just effective. I think it is relevant, his passing worked out for us last game. Who cares if he passed out of some shots and found wide open teammates that hit their shots? Similarly Kobe could improve his handling of the game, because he's taking some pretty difficult shots from long range. It didn't work in Games 2 and 3, but it has come around recently. I would suggest he be a little more cautious with his shot selection.
I'm sorry, but again this has nothing to do with Kobe and everything with Gasol playing soft. Kobe isn't 7 feet tall with touches in the paint.
Yet Kobe acts like the hero and continues to take bad shots. I don't want an over-aggressive fool either. Well the problem is, I have not made a contradiction. You brought up one example of deferring that bothered you. I have not stated it was impossible for Gasol to make bad decisions.
You're upset with Pau. I said you shouldn't be and gave you a reason why. Then I made an analogy involving bad decisions being overcome by serendipitous events. An analogy doesn't have to involve Pau Gasol, or even basketball. I didn't say he was perfect or made any kind of contradiction.
