Time our fan base took to the boards and exposed these bitches for years of not taking the body. I'm sick of it. Chytil 6'2, Howden 6'3, Rooney 6'2, Strome 6'1, Zibanejad 6'2, Kreider 6'3, Lafreniere 6'2, Lemieux 6'1, Buchnevich 6'3, Gauthier 6'4, Kakko 6'3, I've never seen a team with a group of bigger forwards that don't hit anybody. Anybody can tell you that a defenseman or forward is a lot more likely to turn the puck over when they think they are going to be hit hard rather than when they just know forwards are going to rub into them. I've always marveled at how tough hockey players are dealing with injuries. There is more to that and that is lost on this forward group. For a guy who works out all the time in Kreider, he's a pansy taking the body. Howden is a role player. I don't I've seen his 6'3 ass throw a body check since he came into the league. Making him worthless. Buchnevich tries to act tough but a cheerleader would take the body more. Absolutely the biggest bunch of pansy forwards in the league considering their size.
These asshole forwards better see the writing on the wall with the way the Rangers drafted this year. Lafreniere will take the body a ton. He's just timid and hasn't gotten the attitude yet being so young. Then they drafted Schneider and Cuylle. These are the exact opposite of the types of players we have had on this team for far too long.
Fucking Howden, don't get me started on his soft ass. You would have thought he would have learned with his brother who was bust. Newsflash Brett. Nobody wants a 6'3 forward on their team with little NHL offense that doesn't play a hard, nasty, physical game. If you can't do that, hang up your skates because you won't be in the league very much longer.
This is not a team built up front on speed. It's built on size and talent up front. When you don't take the body game after game after game, you aren't going to win a lot and you have no chance if you ever make the playoffs. The only game I saw them all year play a little physical was the second game vs. the Islanders and they easily dominated that game. Yet, our moron head coach doesn't seem to hold our bigger forwards accountable for not playing that way in almost all the games they play.
Meanwhile in real life the Rangers were out hit 22 to 31 according to the ESPN box score in that game. The game prior where the Rangers lost 4-0 was 24-25. The key is being able to play a physical style when you need to. Due to the scheduling there are going to be a lot of games this season that they will need play physically to have a chance. Last night was not about them not finishing checks if thats even what happened...it was about them not being able to finish scoring chances. You can beat the piss out of the other team all over the ice but, if you don't score you don't win.
Dump I agree with you. The forwards are extremely soft. Even Kreider , when he first came into the league he was hitting, fighting, now you don't even notice him out there. Too many pussy players on this team. The games are boring as hell. I’m not kidding, I’ve watched 25 % of the games since 2016
Well, Lafreniere will be a physical player. He's just 18. He will learn to kick some ass. It's his game. They drafted Schneider and Cuylle. Miller will develop a mean streak. Gorton and JD are slowly changing the way the team is built. Bennett is a nasty player. He would be a welcome addition to our role players. I think guys like Buchnevich, Strome and Howden will be out of here. I also think a coach can have a big impact on how a team plays physically. Quinn needs to go back to college.
I’ve been saying day 1 he is a college coach. Lemieux is like an Avery type guy and he’s even playing soft
OK, I think enough of you have made the case that Quinn needs to be replaced. So who do you replace him with?
Anyone? Fire Quinn and replace him with ? Nah, it's much more fun to poop in the punch bowl and game by game nitpick an unprecedented season of youth development. The youngest team in the NHL doesn't stand a chance with this crack squad of cranky Karens watching their every move. Ice time way up for Kakko and #13? Time to move the goalpost over to quality of hits even though the Rangers are 6th in the NHL hit/game. The PP isn't doing to well though...
I will say this, one thing I am absolutely fed up with is our utter refusal to shoot, especially 2 on 1. Buch literally was looking at Z and never even pretended to look at the net. That is something I am fed up with. Quinn needs to start benching guys who overpass and refuse to shoot. It has been an issue for this team for a long time, but it's out of control now. Other teams know it also. If I were a dman or goalie against the Rangers playing against an odd man rush, I would pretend the puck carrier didn't exist and play the side of the net with the other guy. It angers me now. Outside of that, good point against a team that is better than us. Sad reality is 22 of our remaining 44 games are against the Flyers, Bruins, and Caps. We are in for a lot of tough nights I fear.
