Seeing as the deadline is tomorrow at 3PM EST, there is sure to be a lot of buzz around not only the Sixers, but other NBA teams as well. Instead of starting a different thread for each rumor, I'll just post them here (for Sixers, of course). First off... Francis is a Knick (yes! More headache for NY!) Now, back to the Sixers: Trades being discussed right now: - Hunter for Sweetney (CHI) - AI + Mashburn for Earl Watson + Kenyon Martin (DEN) The Denver trade that ESPN was talking about yesterday, it was really Watson + 3 expiring deals for AI.
It makes sense because you need 15% of the contract and we need to cut salary big time. We are going to have to rebuild, we have some peices in place. I would love the Sweetney deal, hes a solid player, I saw him all through college and he was great, and I saw him some in NY and he looked like he could be a solid bench player. If AI gets traded I really want a high pick for him though, I doubt it would happen but I hope so.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Hunter for Sweetney (CHI)</div> Man, that would be amazing if that happened. Sweetney has a much more polished game than Hunter and like Hunter can play both low post positions (centers stretching it, but whatever). In addition to that, he fumbles the basketball less and has a better offensive game as well. Get it done Billy!

Sweetney is kind of like James Thoma although much better overall in almost every category. He's a pretty good rebounder, a good defensive player, and a guy who brings it every night. I would love to have Mike Sweetney here. Now theres a name that would make an impact. As far as that Allen Iverson trade I have two words for that. Helllllllllll no
I don't think Allen would mind the Sweetney trade, because we're getting rid of a disappointing player in Hunter, and adding a fellow Hoya.

I seriously feel that if given more minutes, Hunter would contribute a whole lot more. Half the time Cheeks just sits him on the bench even when we didn't have a backup center. The time that showed this the most was when they had Webber start at center and something like Korver at powerforward. Ridiculous.
i wouldnt mind sweetney either. im a big fan of him, and i think he is a lot more physical because of his build. if anything, ive been missing the strength of marc jackson that we had before in the paint. as for the AI deal? hell no. like Answer-AI03 said, throw in melo and well be happy
He has been disappointing to the coaching staff after Dalembert returned. From what I've heard and read, he has a pretty big ego, and not too much of a work ethic. He hasn't really been doing what they want him to do (defense, rebounding), and after Shavlik Randolph got more minutes than him his confidence really dropped. Overall, I have to say he has been a disappointment to Billy King and to the coaching staff. I mean, it says a lot if they were willing to trade their biggest free agent acquisition of the offseason for two second-round draft picks. As for whether or not the Hunter for Sweetney deal goes down, I really don't know, but it is being discussed.
I'd hate to have Kenyon Martin though. As his owner for a fantasy league, its down right annoying not knowing each night whether or not he'll play. He's pretty much dubbed a questionable for every single game and even when he does play, there's always that chance he'll leave really early because his knee is "sore". Huge monster contract too.

That is what they said during a Nuggets game on ESPN though no one has officially said that a lot of people suspect that.

It makes sense though, his knee or whatever is practically like Webber's and game to game, it can swell it up which causes him soreness.
Kenyon Martin has a huge contract, and as for Ray Allen, LETS GET YOUNGER! Dont trade Dalembert, you would have to probably give him and Korver or a #1 pick for Allen. Just what we need: Another shooter. Stay young, its time to think about the future, dont trade young players for old players.
We had our chance to get Allen last season, but they were asking for Iguodala in return, and I'm glad we did not bite on the trade. As for the Kenyon Martin thing, he is desperate to get away from George Karl. I wouldn't like that deal either, but they are looking for expiring contracts in return for KMart. With Penny dealt to Orlando, the only other expiring contract they are "targeting" is Mashburn's, but there is some confusion around whether or not his contract would indeed provide them with cap space. There is a rule in the new CBA that covers this, but it is the thing causing all the confusion regarding his contract and the medical insurance. Anyway, we probably won't see Iverson dealt anytime before this summer, at the earliest.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd trade Mash and Salmons for K Mart.</div> If we are going to bring in Martin, we might as well get rid of Webber, but that is a huge problem. No sense in having to power forwards with knee problems on the same team.
