What needs to happen with the teams that have been eliminated: Mavericks Fire Don Nelson, bring in Pat Riley or other defense minded coach and force the Mavs to eat, sleep and drink D. Celtics This won't happen, but Danny Ainge has to go; his poor decision making has further buried the legacy of the Celtics franchise. Get Paul Pierce better players or watch him bolt Boston at the first opportunity. Rockets Move Steve Francis to the 2-guard position or trade him; if the former, shop for an authentic point guard over the summer. Teach Yao how to defend without fouling out. Milwaukee Who cares? New York Try to let some of those fat contracts drift southward into Charlotte, because no one else wants Dikembe at 17 million a year! Lenny Wilkins? I still don't know about that one. Memphis The only mistake Memphis made was facing the defending champs in the first round. Work some better defense into the rotation and get Gasol to the nearest weight room.
First of all... "who cares about Milwaukee"?? Come on, man... I honestly don't know what they'd need to do... considering they surprised everyone (and quickly became one of my favorite teams to watch) and overachieved. All of their rotations seem set, and they've got good players who actually play as a team. I think the talent level could be there, but with a little size, look out. The problem is... there's no one on that team that doesn't fit... and I don't see any big bodies coming in and making the transition to their uptempo game. Dallas... if you're a mavs fan... don't hold your breath for Riley... or defense. Celtics... with Blount booking it out of town (for sure), they're gonna have to shop for a starting C, and that's never easy... Although I wish luck upon the Doc... I don't want to see them in the post season next year. (and as you said... Ainge is going NOWHERE) In terms of New York... who wouldn't want $17M coming off their books? Watch the teams line up come trade deadline (and you better believe that they'll leave him unprotected, just because Charlotte's scared of those numbers). That's all... in my mind.
