Utah has the most money of any teams in the NBA this offseason. They had that last year, but made no major acquisitions through Free Agency. Here are a couple of my ideas. 1. Let Greg Ostertag go, get a lot more salary cap and throw lots of money at Mehmet Okur. I'm not sure if he's player or team option, but if it's team option make it impossible for the Pistons to resign him or player option make it big money that he can't turn down. 2. Try to make a trade for either future picks or a PF,PG,C for Matt Harpring. I like Matt a lot, but he's holding back Kirilenko since they both play SF. We've seen how AK47 can play w/o him, and it's scary. Harp still has good value, and we could improve the roster. 3. Draft Kris Humphries. Utah will probably have to miss the playoffs for this to happen, but he's a good quality PF. There are a lot of possibilites, Utah are in great shape to start rebuilding the team that was so dominant in the 90's. They need a quality big man, could improve at PG but they already have 3 PG's. I don't mind spending a lot of money, FA's normally don't want to come to Utah but they're aren't many players who can turn down money, that's the way the league is today. My ideal offseason would be acquiring Mehmet Okur, Kenyon Marting in a sign and trade for Harp and draft Kris Humphries but I can't see that happening. List your ideas here.
I really just want to see Utah aquire a dominate low post presense, someone who can not only score in the low block but can defend those dominate front court players. AK47 is great defensively but he can't defend the big names in The Western Conference like O'Neal, Duncan, Garnett, Webber, etc. Kenyon Martin would defintely be ideal. I couldn't begin to imagine the amount of shots he and Andrei would be smacking back but than again I couldn't imagine Martin in a Utah jersey either.
^^That's true, Utah's biggest need is a low post scorer and defender. The best PF's a C's love to play Utah, they always up their scoring and rebounding against them. If you don't know, Utah's starting PF is Tom Guggliotta and C is Greg Ostertag. Erick Dampier is another name I thought of, but his chances of leaving Golden State and going to Utah aren't great. Utah normally don't have dominant big men, the good big men of recent times are the Mailman and Mark Eaton. They don't come along often and that's why they're so valuable to Utah. Utah has a lot of money to throw round, and I hope they do something with it and not let their major offseason signing be Raja Bell again.
