Not to beat a dead horse, because that's what I think Larry Brown is, but I just read an interesting little article in the Houston Chronicle that goes over something I've been thinking about since this past summer: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/s.../bk/bkn/2921502 The article talks about how Brown, after singlehandedly destroying any of Team USA's chances at winning a gold medal, is now trying to take credit for the progress of guys like Wade and James. Quote from article: ?We're not going to argue that had Larry Brown played all those kids he brought to Athens, things might have been different. That was part of the problem. USA Basketball sent him Olympians still learning how to play the game without enough time for even wise, old veterans to learn to play a different game. But Brown, in a stunning bit of audacity even by his standards, is actually assuming credit for how well members of that next generation have played since they got to be around him for a summer.? The entire article is a good read, and they bring up an 'elephant in the living room' sort of point: If Larry's not going to take any blame for his icompetent job of coaching in the Olympics, how in his MIND can he justify taking ANY sort of credit for the players' successes after the fact? Is this guy completely insane or just non-sensically redundant? I'm not one of those who tip-toes around the thought that if Brown had spent more time working LeBron INTO the lineup rather than time making excuses as to why he didn't- the odds that we take gold there improve dramatically. In addition, instead of blaming everyone else under the sun BUT HIMSELF after the poor showing of the team in Athens (ie, guys like Carmelo, LeBron, "these kids", all that bunk) Brown wound up placing the bullseye for his team's lack of success on the shoulders of two kids who were 19 and 20 years old respectively. It's my opinion that Brown was the key reason we didn't take gold. He blew it, that simple, and I saw it coming during the team's exhibition games. Now he's got the absolute BALLS to take CREDIT for what these guys are doing in the league since they underwent his 'tuteledge'...???? I really, really, really, really, really cannot stand this moronic fool and I hope no one EVER lets him near a young player again. Of the two in question, it's LeBron that's been the only one not to act like an irresponsible teenager. Ladies and gents I give you Larry "The Idiot" Brown- scapegoating coach of the year. Chip
That is some bull. They twisted his words around. But hey that's the media, they twist words to make people look like hypocrits, and most ppl know that, now when it comes to this, ppl want to believe. LB just said he was proud of the players, for playing so well. And you can't honestly tell me that the olympic experience didn't help. I mean LB is a teacher more than anything. He taught these guys to play the right way over the summer. And it seems like LeBron learned alot from him. So I truly think the LB is the reason why they are playing really well. On the other hand, you cannot shoulder the blame on LB, either the team or nobody. I mean is it his fault some players wouldn't listen to him? The only players that played well was AI and TD, and sorry but that isn't enough. Plus everyteam shortens their rotation down, and now when LB does it there's some thing wrong with it? You have to give the other teams alot of credit, for hitting shots from all over the court, but you also got to give the U.S. players blame because opponents were hitting shots from all over the court. Where was the defense???!!! LB is such a great coach, and has made everything/everyone that he's been around better, and because he couldn't get the cooperation needed, therefor couldn't get the job done, everyone wants to blame him. It all comes down to players, because they're the ones who to execute. Sorry LB isn't supposed to execute.
LArry Bwon did not help LeBron and D-Wade. It was the Olympic experiance(what they had of it) is what helped them. You don't see him bragging about guy slike Carmelo right about now now do you? No because he wants to make himself look better. LeBron and Wade should be better any way seeing as it is their sophomore year.
