O'Neal questioned how the media picks MVPs and said the award has been "tainted" the past two seasons. O'Neal was the runner-up for Nash's first MVP in 2005. O'Neal repeated "tainted" references to reporters. "I don't know what to say," Nash said. "I'm sorry he feels that way."</div> source
Haha rightfully so? What a joke. No way in hell Shaq deserved the MVP last yera. You can make an argument for the year before, but I doubt it'll be convincing. I hate Nash, too.
I think it was a very close race for MVP between Nash & Shaq (as did the MVP voters). I leaned towards Shaq winning it, but thought Nash was having a great season too. Who was competing for the MVP the year after Shaq's big year in Miami that makes him consider it tainted?
Shaq winning 4 titles in an era of no big men is tainted...lol...seriously the guy always finds something to bitch about

I don't see what the big deal. Shaq only has one MVP and the criteria for the MVP is awkward at times.
THe mvp award is a joke, kobe shoulda won it last year and if this year Dirk dosent win it then its a damn joke.

Anyways, Shaq is just pissed he lost DWade for the season and is missing the playoffs for the first time in.....(no clue)

Shaq and his nonsense. I dont care for Nash much, but who can argue with his MVP awards. It could have gone either way each season he won, but nothing says he should not have won them either.
Nash simply has more to offer than Shaq ATM. Shaq is getting old....really needs to quit....needs to congratulate Nash.

If we could only choose mvps from either Shaq or Nash. Check this out: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/steve_nash/career_stats.html Nash: 75 and 79 games played in those two years he won Shaq: 73 and 59 games. Shaq isn't healthy enough to really be MVP anything. If the Heat are winning without him, I'd owe it more to Dwade and whoever Shaq's backup center is. Now if Nash goes down, I've seen the Suns play really badly without him because he is focal to that offense a lot more than Shaq is to the Heat offense (IMO). So he is valuable to his team more so than Shaq to his team. Now if we're talking MVP of the league, I think Nash led one of the best regular season teams in one of the toughest conferences and divisions. Unfortunately their small play cannot win many championships because they don't know how to slow it down in the halfcourt as well as bigger teams or play the kind of defense bigger teams have. Defense wins championships and obviously the heat and mavs were doing that to get as far as they did, in addition to being a great scoring team as well. Let's also remember for regular season MVP Nash actually stepped up and got clutch even when missing Amare Stoudamire for most of the season or all of the season. I can't remember how many games he missed, but it was a lot. And Nash was the primary factor. Another reason I thought Nash should have won like he did was because people were writing off the Suns early because they didn't have a true center on that team and Nash was thought of as maybe only the 3rd or 2nd best of the Dallas big three. He was overpaid to be the Suns 30 year old franchise player. But all of a sudden just adding him made the team a lot better for running teams. He makes guys who already play bigger than their size and who cannot create their own shot, play a lot better.

Wtf does that mean? Tainted? Shaq, wait till your team gets over .500 until you start lobbying for MVP.
