    Read this in Real GM....

    "Looking ahead to summer deals

There still are games to be played and a title to be decided, but Sports Illustrated already is looking ahead at potential moves this summer.
One blockbuster: Indiana Pacers forward Jermaine O'Neal going to Chicago for guard Kirk Hinrich and the New York Knicks' unprotected lottery pick, which was received in the Eddy Curry trade. The magazine had a picture of O'Neal in a Bulls' home uniform wearing his No. 7. It wouldn't be surprising if O'Neal's name is mentioned in trade rumors this summer if the Pacers don't have a successful playoff run.
Pacers rookie forward Danny Granger also was mentioned, but in a positive way. Granger is one of five players listed for a breakthrough in the second half of the season."

    Any thoughts??

Jermaine is due to make $18M next year, Kirk is due to make $3M.

Unless you do a deal right now involiving Tim Thomas' expiring deal the only way you'd get it to fit money was would be to either throw in Tyson Chandler and change (along with Kirk) or package up half your roster.

I wouldnt want that. As a life long Bulls fan, I wouldnt be down with that. Keep Tim Thomas so we get that $15mil off the books, we are looking at a Top 3 pick, aswell as our own pick (probably between 13-15) and a top notch free agent. I like too much the situation we have coming into this offseason, and if played right, Chicago can become an immediate player in the East. I like O'Neal, but he holds the ball too much, is oft injured the last couple seasons, and the top of the '06 Draft is heavy. If we keep the pick, and go after LaMarcus Aldridge, there is our big man, younger, more potential, and cheaper than O'Neal. Now we nab a big guard in the middle of the round, say Rudy Fernandez, and then spend our cap money of a big man in free agency. I would much rather build that way.

We would be better served keeping Hinrich and draft Aldridge. Then using our money in free agency then adding Jermaine O’Neal to the fouled. Again this is the classic case of the media trying to put a star in the big market place of Chicago a couple of years ago it was Pierce, then Kobe, etc.
