Season is flying by. I believe the next 5 games will determine of this team makes the playoffs. They play the crappy Islanders 3 times, the Devils who they have sucked against once and the Blues once. I figure, 3-1-1 would be acceptable. Anything less and this team is going to be in danger of being knocked out of the dance.
I think we always want to play well, but I don't think the next 5 games will determine if they make the playoffs or not. They just swept a 3 game stretch against the teams 7, 9, and 10 in the standings going into the 3 games, and we were 8th. So that was huge. As long as we don't go 0-5 I think we'll be okay. Ideally you'd like 6 or 7 points at a minimum out of these 5 games, but if they get 3 or 4 points we'll still be right in the mix. Just don't get 0, 1, or 2 points and we'll be okay. To me these are all home games. The two "road games" are in Yankee stadium and we all know we'll have more fans at those games than the Devs or Isles. So yeah I agree we should get 6 or 7 points at worst, if not 8 points, but if we got 4 I don't think we could say we are out of it now, all is lost. As a side note it would be nice to see the Isles beat the Flyers today.
Disagree. These next 5 games will determine if we make the playoffs. A lot of teams close to us have games in hand. You can't take 4 games against lower level teams like the Islanders and Devils and basically not get 7 points. They especially need to get a win vs. NJ. I'm sick of them losing to that crap team.
I know it kills you when we lose to the Isles and Devs because you hate those teams more than any other teams..., but we'll agree to disagree on this one. If we go 2-3 we can certainly still make the playoffs IMO. I don't think we'll go 2-3, I think minimum we get is 6 points, but if we did I think we certainly can still make it. I agree if we lose 3 of 4 to the Isles and Devs it wouldn't look good for us moving forward, but I can't say we'd be out for sure if we get 3 or 4 points out of the next 5 games.
Don't forget with the Olympics going on this year they pretty much don't play much in February. I agree they need to beat up on the locals and keep accumulating points.
With the way this team is playing and the way the Devils have looked lately, losing to them would be a major kick in the dick.
For sure Prod. And so would not winning at least 2 of 3 against the Isles. We agree for sure. If we do struggle in these 5 games you wouldn't feel great, and we'd need to get on a good run after the Olympics, but it wouldn't be season over if we only get 3 or 4 points out of these next 10 (it might be season over if we go 1-4 or worse).
This stretch is basically the Isles season too, if they let the Rangers and Flyers gain 4-5 more points on them they could be almost done. So you know theyll be desperate.
I think its all about how they come back from the Olympic break. If they even half stutter out of the gate then... they could be in real trouble.
