Can endure this slop of a team. Props to everyone who post here, it's been a difficult year and I fear that it is only going to get worse.

Yea but we have Soriano!!!! And Cano's ridiculous contract to look forward too. Oh and all those farm hands waiting to bust into the bigs.......right?

Blue, you know I feel the same as you. Only a fool would believe the Yankees can turn this around without a total rebuild. Starting with a clearing out of the front office and making sure that the farm system from this point starts producing on every level. For example, Judge hasn't even been in a game yet in the Minors, why? Clarkin was placed on the minor DL on July 9 for ankle yet I haven't heard about them since

Yankee management does not know how to promote their babies......
    with good reason.
This organization has failed miserably to infuse talent into their system.
And yes, unfortunately this is only the beginning of "hard times" in the
old ballpark in the Bronx. Next year will be worse. And like the housing market,
we won't know when this team actually hits rock bottom.
Yankee resurgence is 5 to 7 years away.
By then, most of Yankee management will be gone...............
the scary thing is, the fans don't know who or what is lurking as possible
owners. Probably some Russian or Middle East wealthy spenders who know
nothing about the game except it puts money in their pockets...
By then, this Yankee fan will revolt and stay away from the place
where I saw Mantle and Maris bring joy to a young boy's Yankee
baseball memories. Where are those players today? Not on my
    Yankee team!

    As Mary Hopkin once sang:
"Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end,
We'd sing and dance forever and a day.
We'd live the life we'd choose We'd fight and never loose,
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days."

The lack of any major league ready talent in the minors has been glaring. Now we have to wait for the next wave to be ready.

It's not like Yankees fans have anything to complain about, if there's a team in the mix more often than they are I don't see it, so they stink for once due to massive injuries, it happens, and we may get to see some young players soon, could be fun and productive for 2014.

At least you're not a Cubs fan like me.

We haven't won a world series in over 100 years.

But that is what makes this game so great, there is always tomorrow, and for some tomorrow comes faster than others. As a baseball junkie, it is mind blowing that your cubs haven't sniffed anything meaningful in that period. You spent the money too.

For years, the team was a tax writeoff for the Wrigleys. Then being owned by the flagging Tribune company didn't really help things.

    I liked Hendry as GM.

I used to watch a ton of Cub games due WGN being one of the first Superstations. Harry Carey made those game special.

Guys I'm sorry but I don't agree that this team is headed for a few years of mediocrity. As long as the right people are pulling the right strings this team can turn things around as early as next season. I think most of you are forgetting that approx 100M dollars will be coming off the books at seasons end. this is no time to be gun shy with salaries. Oh I'm not saying we follow the Dodgers suit & sign everyone in sight. But with the money this team will have to spend (especially if A-Rods money also comes off) We would not be going well beyond 200M if we offered 3-5 year contracts to guys like McCann & Morales & Even Headley. That solves catcher, DH & 3rd base.

All the above moves are possible. But like I said, it takes the right people doing the right things.

Rough games to watch, and I'm not compelled to last through the west coast games but I try. BUT…there is a ton of baseball left. If this team somehow pulled off a trade for McCann and a decent 3B (whether Young fits that bill is debatable), how could you not feel like this is a better team? Granderson back and Cervelli eventually being your better backup, who knows what happens in the 2nd half, and the future doesn't look as bad if you can retain McCann.

Rick if that was the case then possibly we could compete, but with no Mo, with CC's rapid decline, with Andy showing signs of the end is nearer than we hoped, I just don't see it. Is Headley a free agent after the season. I thought he was signed for next year.
