I really like him as a player, he does alot of great things on the court, but I don't think he's cut out to be a second option on a successful team, not with those knees. we need a player that can actually take over a game when Paul is playing bad (like NOW). Wally is the kind of guy that will hit the occsasional big shot then disappear. He's too streaky within the game. I mean, it's good that he can score in bunches, but I'd rather have a more consistent threat on the floor.
I couldnt agree more. Its not like the celtics havent been trying to get another 2nd option though. IMO, they need to find a PF or C as a second option, but I really dont know who that would be...At this rate, they could get lucky and get Greg Oden with the first pick in next years draft...ha
Yeah Wally can't really be reliable as a consistent 2nd option player. But I do like his role here in Boston, he's got the scorer's role and that's pretty much it, he's honestly like Peja now here in Boston, he's got a great shot and shoots good percentages but that's pretty much it. They were trying to make him more than that in Minnesota and it didn't really work out. I don't think (emphasis on think) they are trying to make him a big 2nd option in Boston, I hope not. Like dogma said his knees aren't reliable. I agree with ballerman also, we would benefit from a 2nd option PF or C.
I agree. I really like Wally, he's a good player. He's a great guy, great locker room/chemistry guy, he can really shoot the ball with the best of them, he's a 20 point scorer, he has passion and love for the game, and he gives 100% every second. But I think he would be a great 3rd option, just an ok second option. I love Wally, nothing against him, but no team is really going to win a championship with him as the 2nd option. 3rd option would be ideal.

Fire Doc and bring in a coach who will use West or Al as their 2nd option and really on Wally most for his shooting and great team play!

Wally is our 2nd best player, you can't just "make" Big Al our 2nd option, he has to earn that. I will have to say that if you give Al the necessary touches/minutes, he can get you close to 15 ppg this year, Wally can get you 20 on great percentages on the same amount of shots. The only reason I'm bringing up Big Al here is because Delonte is a wing, Wally is a wing. They are both shooters. Wally is a vet and he's a better player, so you can't just make Delonte 2nd option. Big Al has to get the starting job before we can make him 2nd option. In order for Wally to be 3rd option on this team, Al Jefferson has to break out or we have to trade for an All-Star. Trading for the All-Star seems very unlikely.
