Jonathan Clay Redick 6'4" 190 The one big knock on Redick is his small frame, i'm going by the assumption that he's really 6'4" which means he's one inch taller than Kirk Hinrich who plays a lot at SG and does fine. Cuttino Mobley is 6'4" but is 210 pounds. I think if Redick can put on more weight to around 200 pounds I don't think size would be that big of an issue. 6'4" 200 is not big but it's not as big of a deal as people make it. We know his shot is perfect, he plays well without the ball, he plays with a lot of heart, he never gets tired and always works hard on his game. I think a lot of people (including myself) have given this guy a little too much <Censored>. This draft is not good at all so picking him top 10 is not as big of a reach as people think it is. Unless you think Tiago Splitter is something amazing which he isn't. He needs to work on his handle and defense but his defense is better this year and with his work ethic I don't think it would be much of a reach to say he could become a good NBA defender. He is a quick guy and a good athlete. I don't know if he could start in the NBA, I can't tell the future but when I see guys like Delonte West come in at 6'3" 185 pounds and play well I wonder why people don't give Redick the benefit of the doubt.

To that last part about Delonte its because he is a PG who can handle the ball extremely well, and you dont have to be Huge to be a PG, just look at AI and Nash. I dont know how well JJ will be able to handle the ball at the next level, because at 6'4, he might be kinda small for a SG, but i dunno, it could work out for him because he can get pretty high off the ground with his jumper.I will probably follow JJ's NBA career more than any other player, just because of all the hype, and all the "He wont do anything in the NBA" or "He will be the next Peja", stuff like that.

Well the main point is: until he can prove me wrong that he is undemensional..i.e pla some defense, drive, pass, rebound, something else then I think he will just be a guy who is made for college and will end up as the next Fred Hoiberg. And who knows? He may not even be a good shooter in the NBA because defense is alot tougher this step up. This guy is a very big risk. If I were GM I would not take this guy in the first round.

Calling Redick the next Fred Hoiberg is just a baseless 'pick the white guy who is around his size'...

Most of the time when you are comparing some you say as a similarity"their both black". Anyway, I picked Hoiberg because that's pretty much all he does, shoot 3 pointers. I think it was a good comparison. To Blenderboy: Yes, believe it or not they play alot better defense in the NBA then in college basketball. Trust me, flip on a college game, you'll notice the difference right away. That's why most young guys aren't good defenders.

Coach K said himself that JJ is his best wing defender, which is a pretty good thing when you play on the same team as Sean Dockery and Demarcus Nelson. You say he can't drive, but again you are wrong. Turn on the game, you will see him take it to the hole numerous times. And he's not a great rebounder, but what two guard is. He will play fine against NBA defenses because his release is very quick. People give him <Censored> because he's such a good player, which I don't understand. If you were a coach, this is a guy that you would LOVE to have on your team. He does everything right, and rarely makes mistakes. He loves the game, real smart, great teammate, and gives it his all on both ends. He's also got an uncanny work ethic, and it pays off. He has improved so much each year of his college career. I think in the NBA he will be a Kirk Hinrich with a better shot.

That thing was written before the season, he has improved alot. Just turn on the game kid, watch him on the defensive end. He doesn't have all the physical abiliteis of the great defenders, but he uses his head to lock down his opponent. He is terrific at using angles, and will never back down from any challenge.

No I don't think so. I think you are just overrating him because you are a Duke fan. Yes he improved in one year from a horrible defender to one of the best. And also he is a good shotblocker and post up player as well!Edit: I didnt say he will turn out like Hoiberg. I said that he might unless he brings more to his game.

I have watched him a few times and he played pretty good defense...I would rather have a biased Duke fan opinion than a 'never seen him play' once guy.

He's never going to be a bonafide star. That is given.

So what if I don't watch college basketball that much. I have seen him play a couple of times because I usually only get Duke games. And ask anyone, not GoCelts and you, JJ is not a good defender.

Now your just talking out of your <Censored>. I never said he was great, but you just made it seem as if he couldn't play defense at all. Coach K said himself that JJ was his best wing defender. Just shut your mouth and turn on the game, watch him on the defensive end.

Ok....your right pal...JJ is a good defender..(cough) (cough). I'm done debating with you because you obviously are biased towards JJ. I'm pretty sure the scouting report would know more then you.

College teams play better team defense, but not as good of man to man defense.
