I'm expecting a thinning out eventually of dispensaries as there are so many in Portland right now. Great for the consumer though as prices are pretty low and likely due to the glut of pot on the market as well as the glut of dispensaries. Portland once the Capitsal of Strippers is now becoming the Capitol of marijuana. Economics 101, supply and demand.

the future of marijuana is in edibles and concentrates. This is great news for both of those parts of the industry.

Ah progress.....back in the day this was the little brother no one in the family ever talked about and things got quiet whenever his name was mentioned. Now his business acumen is a source of pride. Welcome to the 21st Century!

Is it dispensaries and producers both that are getting hurt by the glut of weed on the market? It's a good deal for consumers though.

I don't think it is a good deal for consumers. I know from experience that it doesn't do the intellect any good. Now, some guys I graduated with and smoked weed with are captains of the high tech industry but I think they would have done even better, as I know for certain would have been my case, had they not smoked weed at all. Then, there's those who smoke and drive.

I remember when I was fresh out of the Army and I went to visit this friend of my cousin's while accompanied with my cousin and we stood in a circle passing a joint around. This young kid, about 13 years old and obviously playing hooky on this school day, walks over to us and joins the circle. Apparently, he was the son of the friend of my cousin. The young kid started taking hits off this joint.

Does anyone else see the harm from all this glut of weed?

recreational substances often magnify the persons nature...if someone is lazy...they'll become more lazy...right now this is like post prohibition for alchohol..it's still way overpriced ...that'll change...for some people it is medicinal and for some it's calming...not for everyone and definitely not good for folks who over do it but that's true of everything from soda pop to pain killers...I don't condone using any pot while working or studying...etc....wouldn't allow musicians in my band to use before a performance...it isn't helpful for live performance in my view.

I'll agree that it is likely to have a medicinal value in some instances, just like my evening whiskey. But most people who take it appear to have damaged brains already.

I used to work with a guy who had a jazz trio and was from Chicago who told me that most musicians were heavy users of pot and I love good jazz so I could see some potential benefit to its' use. It's just that I have all this personal experience as well as have known so many people with low IQs who were heavy users of grass that I have a hard time finding any acceptable uses of the drug. I guess if you could show me that it prevents serious crime or at least violent crime, I might find an acceptable use.

For me personally, i could nevet do edibles. I have to see the weed. I also dont trust people with stuff that can alter my body (within reason of course, psychiatrists are different). I gotta have a view of it. Call me paranoid, i just want to know about how high im gettin.

Then again, i hardly smoke, even though i have 3 different strains sitting there... I may smoke once every couple of months if that.

And your right, flower will never go away because it is very enjoyable. Edibles and concentrates are the future for a few reasons though, its easier to regulate your dosage, you dont have to smoke them, they can be infused with all sorts of things even soda, they dont taste like weed and they dont make you stink like weed. The science behind extractions is literally exploding right now. My favorite are the ecig like vap pens, and if you havent tried one you should because they are awesome. Just make sure to get the CO2 oil cartridge, it burns smoother and has better flavors than the stuff mixed with glycol. I should also add that highs from oils feel different than a high from flower, best way to describe it is cleaner or less fuzzy head feeling.

Oh yeah, I am definitely not denying the validity and the velocity to which thoae methods are going at, for sure.

Ecigs are cool, only tried it once. The whole holding it like a cig threw me off. Lol. But it is really handy.

There are so many varieties that have such different effects now....I'm not a fan of the couch lock variety and tend to casually use more active strains..the shiva shanti strain from Holland has virtually no thc...all cbn….it's effect is the feeling of spending a day in a health spa...very calming and meditative..when it was legalized in Oregon it really helped me quit tobacco

I’m not a fan of the stronger indicas....unless I really want to sleep. But some of the salivas and hybrids are another story. My straight arrow wife has never been particularly comfortable with my fondness for weed, but she actually encourages me to buy the “productive” strains because when I smoke that stuff the honeydew list gets whittled down in no time. And with a smile! I have also finally convinced her to try the zero THC, high CBD edibles for her neck and back pain and she has been blown away by how effective they have been. She’s still getting used to the “calming” effect @riverman mentioned but I consider that a side benefit for husbands.......
