    The rain was intensifying, and the Baltimore Orioles knew it wouldn't be long before umpires called for a tarp to cover the sloppy field.

    So, down by a run in the sixth inning, the Orioles switched to beat-the-rain mode and used the elements to their advantage in a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night.
