And actually they may get better in the process. Maybe good enough to keep Howard in Orlando. G. Wall, Matthews for Turk and Redick We may try to get a third team involved and get a pick? Maybe even get Orlando's first rounder? New starting line-up. PG: Felton, SG: Batum, SF: Turk, PF: Aldridge, Center: Camby Key reserves: Reddick, Crawford, Thomas, Rhino We would be one hell of a perimeter shooting team, plus Turk is a decent closer, IMO.
Ew, we dodged the Hedo bullet once, why try it again? Neither guy has an expiring deal, right? I'd trade Gerald and possibly Wesley for expiring deals and try to get some draft picks.
Mags, in your mind, how does this help us get better? Turk sucks, and has 2 additional years left on his contract after this season.
No Turkey ass dude for the blazers. he sucks. and the deal fails because we still are keeping failton.
I am looking at what our team is missing this season. It's obvious that teams are daring us beat them from the perimeter; while packing it in the paint on Aldridge. Freeing Aldridge could be a Godsend; IMO. But whatever, I guess you all think it's a terrible deal.
I don' t think making the team slightly better this year to squeak into the playoffs is worth messing up the team even more for the foreseeable future.
Three Team Deal Phoenix gets Turk, G. Wall and Felton Portland gets Reddick and Nash Orlando gets Matthews, Childress and Frye Orlando send their pick to Phoenix. Portland's new starting 5: Nash, Reddick, Batum, Aldridge and Camby Portland's key reserves: Smith, Crawful, Babbit (yeah lame), Rhino, Thomas. EDIT: And we send out three contracts of Matthews (4 years 6.1 mil), G. Wallace (2 years 9.5 mil), Felton (expiring 7.6 mil) a total of 24.5 mil; but only receive 18.4 mil of Nash (11.7 mil expiring), Reddick (6.8 for two years). We would have a decent product to watch and have a ton of free space to sign free agents this summer.
I disliked the Turk before he stood us up at the prom, and I hate him with a cold, unreasonable vengeance now. I would never, ever cheer for that guy.
It's a bandaid that will hurt like hell when you rip it off and see you still haven't addressed any of the long term issues Portland has
No offense (mostly because your girlfriend is filthy, brah), but that's a damn stupid trade idea. <*))))><
How so? They would have much more "cap space" this summer. Even trading those players away for this season "rentals" so fans can watch a good product; then use the space to obtain free-agents this summer. Hell we could trade a team for their pick and a player they want off their books, I.E. Milwaukee "Bogut", etc. We would have the core of Batum and Aldridge, a ton of cap space and all the creativity in the world to grab players to build around them.
that's misguided thinking IMO. Trades and moves really should be made with an eye to accumulating liquid assets like picks and avoiding long-term salary unless it's accompanied by lottery picks. It's this kind of short-term, band-aid fix, thinking that cripples a team's flexibility.
What high end FA's want to come to shitty season weathered, clusterfuck for a front office, high taxed Portland? Trading is all fine and all, but most teams don't want to lose assets for nothing, and Portland would basically have no assets to trade. This trade definitely makes us better on paper for this season, which sucks because it drops us further down in the draft and might cost us a shot at an impact player long term to team up with LA, and possibly Batum and Williams
I did, and I appreciated the absence of Turk, but it just doesn't seem like a reasonable trade. I don't see much reason for ANY of the teams involved to make that deal. EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I have a not-so-secret longing to have Nash play for us, even if only for half of a shortened season. I just feel the need to see some above-average playmaking from our PG spot again... I've almost forgotten what it looks like.
Like I said, we could offer taking a contract for a higher pick. Basically giving the team "cap relief", by taking an overpaid player for their pick.
