<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Orlando Sentinel - The Orlando Magic are looking to trade up in this year's draft with either the Timberwolves, Celtics or Rockets, positions 6, 7 or 8."I'm comfortable at 11, but we're trying to get up a couple picks ahead of us,'' said Magic General Manager Otis Smith. "It's a realistic goal. There are teams trying to move down, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get in there."We've heard nothing yet that would knock us over. All the talks have been so preliminary at this point,'' Smith said. "Things are just being thrown against the wall. Everyone has to get comfortable with the draft and who they can get at their spots. A week or so from now, talks will get more serious.''</div>http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...de_up_to_top_8/

I think they can get into the top 8 it's just a matter of who wants out, the Celtics would be one team that would probably trade down to add more players. The Magic must really want Rodney Carney because he's the only real player that makes sense for them in the top 8.

I think it's very possible Carney could still be there at 11 if teams draft based on needs. I mean let's just say the top 5 (in no specific order) is Aldridge, Thomas, Morrison, Gay, Bargnani or maybe Marcus Williams/Foye (Atlanta), possibly even Brandon Roy. So thats really the top 7 or 8. Then 9-10 would be something along the lines of O'Bryant and Shelden. I think O'Bryant fits well in Golden State or Seattle because GS can't continue to have Foyle as their only real center, and Seattle could use an extra big as well (Shelden). Then you got Carney at 11. Very possible.

I think Redick could also fit with them because they need a shooter. Maybe even Ronnie Brewer could find a decent fit in Orlando bringing athleticism, defense, and penetration, can also play some PG.

Orlando's target could also be Roy. He will be there for picks 5-7 in my opinion. He is the 2-guard they need and has a nice all-around game. Plus, he would develope nicely in Orlando, recieving a lot of minutes.

But I don't know. Word was that they liked Shelden Williams, and that was the reason they are moving up, but I don't think Shelden is the best fit there. I mean they have Battie and a developing Darko at center, and Howard at PF, while still waiting on Fran Vasquez. People forget he was there 11th pick last year. Orlando needs a SG more than anything.

I seriously doubt Rodney Carney gets past Houston at #8. Tracy McGrady has talked to management about picking him and he's a perfect fit. The only way he slips out of the top 8 is if Randy Foye is picked ahead of Marcus Williams and Williams slips to #8 then the Rockets have a serious decision to make.
