My father was stationed at Pearl Harbor the day that our friends the Japanese came by to disrupt dome daily live, a mistake they would come to regret. I remember him saying he was very close to finishing a 0400 to 0800 watch when the first group arrived.. Twenty some odd years later I arrived in Japan for active service seeing first hand how the Japanese had prepared to fight to the end if like in Europe the invasion came. Two days in August 1945 changed that equation. A while back the current White House Occupant visited Japan with an excursion to Hiroshima. There were many who thought that Barry should apologize for the American payback which he did not. Wise move on his part. Now I see that the Japanese Prime Minister and the short timer White House Occupant will ne at Pearl later in the month. A shade past the anniversary date but that is OK, point missed. The Japanese gambled and lost big time. Those 2K plus American Servicemen who lost their lives there will get my respect especially on this date for as long as I'm here,
Brother's in Arm's .... looking forward to a nice sunshiny day, then the Imperial Japz, had to go and piss us off, while creating a monstrous resounding deafening war cry, heard around the world..... No doubt, "The Day That Will Live In Infamy" and for damn good reason, always will keep this day alive always, 'til death comes knocking. The Day that changed our nation, forged its mighty empire, drove the engine of technology, and military might, the super ability to manufacture far beyond the Axis lesser production, which helped turn the war tides, by filling the skies with planes, bombs, and the Seas with Ships galore, from sea to shining sea.....ntm- better trained Allied, kickass US soldiers, of another breed in and of their own world; far beyond a Nazi or Imperialist mental abilities, prowess, planning, firefighting, strategies; we we're destined to win against those dumb fks.....yet they really weren't so dumb, just love hearing it....
^^^^ never been another like him since, only one like him prior, Teddy my Grandpa's favorite Prez, he used to always say. G=Pa was even named after Theodore....
I loved sitting drinking cold frosty mugs of beer in the Copper Queen Saloon, (Bisbee, AZ. Summer of 1978) which Teddy used to sit at, his command post during the Mexican American War. Still the same old saloon it was then, it is now. Same old preserved bar, wood encased in damn near a plexiglass showcase, of ancient carvings......... pics of Theodore, his Prez Painting in the Lobby and Bar, the guy was what this Nation needs now....! Not a democrat or republican, recall his scandalous remarks he was sued over unsuccessfully, stating, he'd looked into the eyes of democrats and repbulicans alike, and saw no differences....pissed a lot of peeps off, but Teddy prevailed as always...
