Say what you want but the true defintion of love is a Blazers fan that is willing to get kicked in the nuts over and over again waiting for good part. Or maybe thats the definition of insanity, i always get those two mixed up. Either way every time I see something like this I lose more and more hope for this team's management and I dont think I had a whole lot of hope to begin with. Oh well, good for Faried I suppose.

Why isn't Nolan Smith on this list? Must be a typo ...

That's a really shitty rookie first team. Worst in my memory. Two Top 10 picks from this draft, right?

    I disagree...

Irving was a monster and Rubio ran the Wolves like a seasoned vet -- they absolutely fell apart when he went down with his injury.

Faried was a double-double machine and more than held his own against bigs much taller than himself. I think he's the next Ben Wallace.

I've been driving the FIRE CHAD BUCHANAN bandwagon since last June. That draft was totally unacceptable.

Rubio had a PER of 14.6 and shot 36% from the field, with 25% the 10 games before he was out for the year.

Silly wabbit - we passed on Faried so we could have the chance to have Felton crap all over the locker-room. If we had taken Faried, Denver would have backed out of the deal and refused to trade their walking tumor for our PG!

Of course, if that is true it makes the decision even LESS justifiable....

Jesus Fucking Christ. How long do we have to hear this one note repeated?
Funny how everything went quiet when Faried WASN'T PLAYING AT ALL until half of Denver's team went down with injuries.
Here's a bet for you: this is the high point of Faried's career. Yes, his numbers might improve slightly. But then he will slide into a journeyman role and bounce around the league. He is what he is. He plays hard, and he's not particularly skilled. He's a great rebounder who's a PF in a SF body. Unless you're Dennis Rodman (who could actually play amazing defense, which Faried has shown no sign of) that doesn't get you much in this league. He's a poor man's Shawn Marion.
Go back and look at all the all-rookie selections over the years. Here're some first-teamers (I'm not even going to bother with second-teamers, like JONNY FLYNN) over the years:
Darren Collison (now, who is it who keeps venting spleen about the idea that we pursue him?)
Tyreke Evans (RoTY - now being shopped by Sacramento)
Brook Lopez (the forgotten man, a center who rebounds less than some guards)
Michael Beasley (given away for cap room)
    Al Thornton (who?)
    Randy Foye
Jorge Garbajosa (actually a good choice, but didn't last long)
    Charlie Villenueva
    Channing Frye
    Emeka Okafor
    Ben Gordon
    Kirk Hinrich
    Drew Gooden
    Marc Jackson
    DARIUS MILES

I could go on. Note that Damon Stoudemire was RoTY while Kevin Garnett just made the second team. If I could be bothered I would go through and list players who didn't make either rookie team but were better than most who did, but I'll let somebody else do that. Call them the "All-Billups Team".

(NOTE: I'm not saying that Nolan Smith will be Chauncey Billups. (I predict a solid career on a good Italian team.) I'm not saying we made the right pick (the right pick was Mirotic). I'm just FUCKING SICK OF THE MOANING!)

Nolan was a Nate pick. I wouldn't blame newbie Buchanan at all. Where is Isaiah Thomas on the Rookie team? He ranked 3rd among rookies in win shares.

You know I read people here and elsewhere mention that the Nolan over Faried pick was a Nate pick or that it was a required part of the DEN deal, and I call bullshit on both....

Where is the proof? This is all speculation...or regurgitated speculation....basically...bullshit....

and even if it wasn't what GM lets the coach override him on a 1st round pick? and do you really think that if Buchanan was in the room and said "No don't do that, Faried is better" and the the team went with Nate anyway, that they would NOT view him (Buchanan) later in a positive light as a full time GM candidate? ie Maybe we should have listened to the guy?

The fact is Buchanan's track record as a SCOUT and as a temporary GM are not good....HE is the head talent evaluator for college players is he not? He has been the temporary GM for the most part of the last 2 years, has he not? Should he not have the loudest voice in the room? This team has not drafted a relevant player (Batum) for its roster since 2008!

Claver in 2009, E-Will\Babbitt\Armon Johnson in 2010 and now Nolan Smith in 2011....Not one of those guys has been a meaningful contributor to this roster...three straight years, it is completely unacceptable...

The bottom line is that either he is a bad scout, or he has no BALLS to speak up and defend his analysis when it matters...or both....and for that reason he shouldn't even be remotely considered as a GM , and I question his ability as a scout...

You can't blame every pick on Allen & Nate...If that truly is the case (and I do not think it is), then why even bother having a GM or scouts?

Allen likes to be convinced, he likes to have his GM\scouts convince him on why they should go with one player over another....ie you need to have conviction, confidence and a set of balls....and I think this whole GM search shows that Buchanan has none of those qualities...

You now I wonder upon reflection if Allen wishes he had not fired Cho, who basically was a full year ahead on the realization of what needed to happen with this team.....Cho was right, this team needs a rebuild...a SIGNIFICANT rebuild and for telling (insisting?) on this being the course for the franchise he was shown the door....He had balls, and conviction, he just couldn't sell it.....

Well put. The buck stops with him and the simple fact is that our drafts lately have been atrocious. I don't care if PA or Nate like him, he needs to make his case and not back down.
