Or you can't like the hometown Devils unless you live in Newark? (I think that's where they play, I'm not a hockey fan)

I'm willing to bet that there are plenty of sports fan who root for the hometown team that don't live within the city limits of the actual stadium.

Of course there are plenty of people in Akron that root for the clowns and Indians, but it is far enough away that isn't automatically the hometown team. But what do I know, I only lived there before.

It was always my definition that you're hometown team was the local team, and wasn't restricted to city limits.

I'd say Eagles, based on state representation. FWIW I don't know where Erie, PA is, but I've got a feeling you chose a place that was closer to another pro-stadium. I still have always gone by state limits first. If there is no pro-team, then sure go by proximity. The Mets and Yankees are both local teams for NJ residents.

Just because he is famous and plays for the Cavs doesn't mean he must change all his favourite teams that he liked growing up before he was on the Cavs.

I believe it would be worse if all a sudden he bangwagons onto Clevelands teams just because he is on their team. Plus, didn't he say he roots for all Cleveland teams after his favourites?

 

I think most people go by their state first, as GM mentioned. However, he doesn't HAVE to be a fan of Ohio teams. He grew up being a Yankee fan so you can't change that just because he's playing in Cleveland.

I've heard they cover the Steelers, but I've heard it from one person. So there is a lack of info from me but I've heard Steelers
