I don't think he's an option for the Blazers -- too expensive.

Not only is his contract too expensive so will the asking price the Bulls would want in return.

This is my thought. I would probably rather have Noah at 11/yr vs. Batum at 10/yr. But not only do you ahve to pay Noah 11/yr, you have to give up value to get him.

Probably can't offer what Bulls want or not willing to give it up. Sign and trade with Batum?

That defeats the purpose of their cap issues and the reason why Noah and Deng could be dealt.

Chicago has Coach Thibs! They don't need good players.

Bulls fans can thank a cheap and greedy ownership for this.

They have yet to offer Thibs an extension.

I think it depends on what they want to do. If they are simply looking to clear cap space, and were willing to take a bath on what they got in return, I would seriously consider eating up our cap space and take both players. I think a trade would work under the cap if we sent them Wesley/11th and they traded us Deng and Noah. It would kill our space for the summer, but we'd get our center and we could move Batum to the shooting guard spot. The only problem would be point guard. Maybe draft Marshall and then make a lowball offer to Dre and see if he'll come back for a couple years.

    Miller/Marshall
    Batum/Williams
    Deng/Babbitt
    Aldridge/Hickson
    Noah/Thomas

Obviously the Bulls wouldn't be getting near the value that Noah is worth, but they'd be clearing 19 million off their cap and they'd get Wes and a lotto pick. I don't know if they'd bite, but I think Noah/Deng would be better than we could do in free agency.

That's not the direction we need to go into.

Paul Allen no longer wants to toss out money like no tomorrow -- he now wants to be smart about this team. No more throwing out big money for role players (Wes?)

We need to build for the future; this team is about three years away if we play our cards right. IMO, you go Cousins (21) over Noah (27) and build around his low-post game.

Well, I'm thinking Noah/Deng would fit more into what the Blazers are supposedly wanting to do. They want to put veteran players around Aldridge and Paul wants to win now. Getting Cousins doesn't really achieve that. Getting Noah/Deng would definitely put us back in the playoffs, but I'm not sure if we would be good enough to win it all. We'd still be missing that #1 option. Maybe hope Beal drops or draft Lamb.

Noah and Deng are both role players who make >$10m/per -- I just don't see how this would work, especially with the new CBA. With three contracts >$10m and Batum's new deal you're going to have to settle for a cheap alternative at PG.

There are quite a few point guards available this summer. Maybe we could steal one on the cheap (like Miller)?

I still don't like that option.

You're going to pay at least $30m/per for three role players (Deng/Batum/Noah) and one borderline go-to-guy in LMA.

Bring Miller back? For what? LMA actually improved as a player this year without Miller hogging the ball.

We're going to be over the cap anyway. Whether it's from signing Dragic and someone else, and then extending JJ and Nic, or making a trade similar to the one I mentioned above. I'm not sold on it, but I could see the Blazers wanting to do something like this. They want vents and they want to win now. Noah is one of the better centers in the league and he's still young. Deng isn't great, but he's solid. We will not have cap space after this summer, so it just depends on how you want it to go down.

He's one of the few guys I could see signing for less money. He still has the ability to be a starter in the NBA. We'd only need him for a couple of years if we drafted Marshall. Offer him the vet minimum over 2-3 years and see if he bites. Or do you see someone else on the free agent list that you think we could bring in if we were over the cap? OR would you just start Marshall and throw him into the deep end to see if he swims?
