Yahoo has a tendency to make up stories using unnamed sources, but it is interesting none the less..... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...--bulls--rockets-in-contention-161206919.html
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? "In trade talks, New York has told teams it doesn't want to take on contracts beyond the summer of 2015, although Asik, a center, could ultimately be a player the Knicks would want to sign long-term. There's a market for Asik to be traded into salary-cap space elsewhere for draft considerations, but Houston may have to package a draft pick to move Lin" Jackson is the wild card IMO. This is his first year as a GM. Does he panic and make sure he gets something back? Asik, Lin and Parsons and a first round pick?
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? Melo and harden on same team. At least we could break scoring records on them.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? No we would break scoring records on them. Hell the bucks could probably put up 160 on that defense.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? Yeah I see problems with that as well. I see the advantage of having a big three, but when two of the three need the ball to be effective (In a ISO offense) one of them is basically useless as a spectator. I think Houston should stand pat. (unless they can upgrade the PG spot)
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? Maybe other reporters but IMO Adrian Wojnarowski is the best reporter covering the NBA. He always gets stuff before anyone else does.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? am pretty sure woj knows what I'm having for dinner tonight, and I haven't even decided yet.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? OT thread? This has zip to do with the Blazers current or former.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? I predict that the name Phil Jackson will be mud in 3 years. New York is his Waterloo. He was nothing special there as a player, and the same will be true as a GM.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? So does the "official 2014 NBA draft thread" Did you say the same thing about that?
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? As much as I love Batum, I think Neil Olshey has to begin conversations with NY if Carmelo opts out. I think Houston will be in a tough position to acquire him and Chicago is pretty worthless to Melo if Rose doesn't come back, which is likely. I would begin with a package of Batum and CJ for Melo. Add parts where necessary. I've never been a huge fan of Melo to be honest, but he's still a fantastic scorer and I think with LA and Lillard, he'll have some good personalities around to get his mind on winning. Truth is, he's never really had any good teams to play with. I would be excited at acquiring him for Batum and parts.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? Teams needing to clear cap space by dumping good players is somewhat related to the Blazers, even if the chances are small that we can get involved.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? They are likely small. However, if NY only wants expirings to ensure space for 2015, we can try to get involved, either with Chicago for Taj perhaps, or Houston in S&T for Parsons, playing Nic at the 2, him at the 3, with Wesley going to NY, I dunno. But definitely ways to put ourselves into the mix.
Re: Carmelo leaning towards Houston or Chicago? I'd take Asik on for free. Or hell even Lin if they just want to dump them. Portland would have to pay either 15m next year but the cap hit is only 8.3 I believe.
As much as I dislike Carmelo id trade for batum straight up or with filler. Kind of sick of waiting for batum to flip the switch. Atleast melo kills it on offense our defense would be even worse though.
