ESPN are a bunch of idiots, disregarding their association with Disney.

They still own it. I think they killed it because it's so closely associated with Bill.

So what happens to Zach Lowe? I read all his stuff and listened to his podcasts.

Probably moved to ESPN Insider. That would be my guess. They won't let him walk though. He's the only writer they probably care about.

We should start our own version, Grantlandia!

He might not even know yet, looks like he was blindsided by this. I did see that ESPN intends to honor all contracts though.

...that's certainly better than picking up Jimmer Fredette!

ESPN is making HUGE cuts in my industry. Instead of having TV crews out on the road covering games, they are doing them back in Bristol...... not paying full days for us to travel, cutting it to 1/2 day. Have to pay for that big NBA contract somehow

Because cable is taking a massive hit from cord cutters.

Eventually teams will catch on and provide Netflix type streaming apps

Yup, and the majority of cord cutters are younger viewers under 40. Advertisers hate older viewers because they're set in their ways and not open to buying new stuff. So cable is losing paying viewers and the ones they keep won't sell advertising.

Netflix is what $9 a month? Cable won't be happy with that revenue.

Sorry HCP, but I love seeing the media getting railed. It's a joy of mine.
