:MARIS61: This is an absolute stunner to me. The guy has the people skills of a hamburger with skin as thin as plastic wrap. He's the Lane Kiffin of Sr. Management. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...o-be-next-athletic-director-at-texas/3443561/
Whether he's a tool or not doesn't really matter. If he's a capable administrator and fund raiser then he'll be successful there. That said, I have no idea if he's good at either function.
Really? I'm surprised that they are that excited about Patterson. Is it because of his dad, and also Steve's days with the Rockets? He's a UT grad too, so that's probably a part of it.
LOL. Yeah, someone who's not afraid to let 'er rip. He's a slimy bastard. That's what I've gotten through various media reports/accounts, and it's the impression I've gotten the few times I've briefly gotten to chat with him. So I'm rolling with that impression.
I'm pretty sure I agreed with PapaG that he's not afraid to fire people. I have no doubt he can help raise money (though, I really don't know that he needs to help much with that, as Texas is rolling in it). If he's smart, he'll do whatever he can took look pretty and not trip over his own feet.
Texas already has the largest contributing donor base in all of sports. I think he's there to clean house. The TV deal they have with ESPN alone means that revenue is going to continue to flow, even if he turns off some long-time boosters and the 'good ole boys'.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I'm also going to start calling the Rose Garden the "MODA Center" (hell no). And like I referred to Prince as Prince, even after he was a fucking symbol (I didn't). I will protest the silliness of you not being allowed your rightful name back, whether you like it or not. And that begins with referring to you as "PapaG".
