I wouldn't doubt this is going to happen. I fucking hate the Lakers! Everything is soooooo handed to them.

I wish this would just be done with so he can go away.

Well you have a point, but the NBA really doesn't have a say in this.

When it's done he won't go away, he will be in our face for the next 4-5 years at least.

This kind of shit is why I canceled my season tickets. I refuse to pay any more into a broken fixed system. I just wish I had that option in my taxes also.

I hope they get him and they absolutely fail. Remember when the Lakers were tickled pink that they had Glen Rice and Dennis Rodman to go with Shaq and Kobe, and then the fit was just bad, bad, bad. The lakers were swept in 1999 by the Spurs. They did go on to win in 2000, but the team was not as good as it was hyped to be after pairing Rice with Shaq and Kobe. Then of course they got GP and the Mailman, and that didn't work out too well either. Adding Nash and Howard to go with Kobe looks great on paper, but it could just end up being a huge mess.

GP, Mailman, Shaq and Kobe made it to the finals. I would consider it a success... The others you have a point.

Somewhere, Phil Jackson is regaining interest in coaching the Lakers again...

Yeah I guess I forgot that. Probably because GP and Mailman had been to the finals before and lost to MJ.

Don't get me wrong. I loved watching them basically get swept by Detroit; but any team reaching the finals had a very successful year, IMO. Hell I even think making it to the conference finals is considered successful.

Don't worry Nate. All of the competitive balance issues were solved with the current CBA.

Welcome to the new NBA!! It consists of 5 cities: Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Boston. This is where all the superstars want to be, and where they all eventually end up. The other 23 cities don't count. They are just minor attractions, a sort of "minor league" where you play for a few years before moving on to one of the "hot" destinations.

If you're a fan of one of those 23 other teams in the minor leagues, too bad. You're never winning a title again.

    Welcome to the new NBA!

Unfortunately, for this league to make it and prosper these teams needs to stay relevant and the league knows this.
