Jazz owner Larry Miller underwent surgery yesterday to have both legs amputated. (complications from diabetes) Rival or not, I feel for the guy, and wish him the best.
Remember the time Larry Miller jumped out of his courtside seat and started shouting at Jerry Sloan to do something about the way the Jazz were playing? Sloan looked at him like he was totally out of his mind, which he was. Miller later apologized to Sloan and even cried about it. Wild and wacky stuff. I wish the best to Larry Miller, and hope that he continues to live a healthy life.
Had an out-of-state in law visit us a few years back. He had diabetes and the skin on his legs was black to the knees. Open sores and scabing. Had little feeling in the feet, which were a mess. We called his doctors office and they said nothing to be done and it would lead to amputation once the gangrene set in. They said careful control of his underlying diabetes was the best bet for slowing the inevitable. During the three weeks of his visit we did this: Made him walk every day as much as he could stand the pain. Soaked his feet in buckets of alternating hot and cold water. One minute cold. Five minutes hot. Did this anytime he was sitting. Told him, either move around or soak. Your choice. Rubbed Olive Oil on the skin several times a day. Took him to the coast and walked him around in the surf. We sent him home with healed feet and pink skin. He died years later of a heart attack, but with his feet still attached. Sometimes, the current medical establishment is so insanely stupid it boggles the mind.
I remember those days and hating the Jazz so much...I remember that and the fans throwing batteries at the team after they won a game down there. We had a bunch of pricks on that team so I'm sure they did something to provoke it. That JR Rider sure was a character!
