Has the league ever actually changed a win-loss record after the fact? If there's ever been a case for doing so, this might actually be it. Check out this link:

Looking at the change in rotation on the ball during that final pass, and the composite overlay pic showing the complete ball path, it's pretty difficult to dispute that the ball was tipped and that the shot shouldn't have counted. The precedent that could be set here would be huge.

I understand their anger over the issue, but it became obvious only after a LOT of effort/looking into it.

I hope the league just says the refs/replay center can't be expected to be 100% perfect.

Yeah for someone like me who bashes the refs, I would give them a pass on that one. Funny how the mobile phone video turned out to be the most telling. Of course they did not have access to that one.

In the west when every game matters, this call could make the difference between a playoff berth and the lottery. Crazy

My initial reaction was to disagree with you. I thought the Kings protest should be upheld and they should be credited with the win because that's the right thing to do. But then I thought about the fallout. What happens if the protest is upheld? Does forensic post game video analysis become part of the game? Can that evidence include video from a fans phone that shows a previously unseen angle? What if the score was tied when the play happened? Does the league go back & make them play OT? The Kings did get hosed here, and if they miss the post season by 1 game it would really be a mess. But the precedent set here could be bad for the game.

If they appeal this game, then expect a shit ton come pouring in. I can think of several just this year, including Golden State's fouling at the final possession. Or maybe the time-out that was ignored by Batum.

As Kevin Durant has said "Tough shit!"

The NBA formally apologized to the Raptors a few times last year but that's as far as they were willing to go. Mistakes happen.

Slightly OT, but I would like to see them review all possible goaltending calls after 3 quarters and make the change to the score. This would not only be fair, but it would make life for the refs a lot easier, and even speed up the game a bit. (Last night MnM showed an obvious goal tending call that wasn't made).

What if that score changed the outcome of the game?

That's why I'd check them all after 3 quarters, not after the game. It's not perfect, but it may be the best reasonable thing to do.

Ahhhhh okay I get it. Yeah that wouldn't be bad. Kinda like how they change 3 pointers to 2 if they see the foot on the line

The refs can't really do anything about this... So I can't blame them. The grizzlies scorers table should be getting thrown under the bus.

That's really smart. I like that! Have an extra-long break between 3rd and 4th quarter (half a halftime), and let the teams rest a bit, and prepare. The fourth quarter is a battle, and why not play it up by making it special?

Ends of games have been replayed before. A few years ago, there was a Miami-Atlanta game, I think, where Shaq should have fouled out. They replayed the final minutes at the next meeting between those teams. I might be wrong about the teams involved.

It's pretty simple, all that matters is to get the call right so that the deserving team gets the win. The evidence isn't debatable in this case so the decision should be overturned. I was watching that game and thought it was obviously tipped at the time.

Not to mention the clock didn't even start on time once Memphis caught and shot the ball.
