I'm just stunned by the news today. Talk about their fares dropping faster than their planes.

Not sure how that airline survives another tradegy. Condolences to the families that lost loved ones. As someone that travels internationally, its one thing to know mechanical error or environment can take you out, we've even become numb to terrorism...but when a military goofs, wow. Guess there are always transatlantic cruises, avoid travel during iceberg season.

I'd place Pukin Putin on the #1 Terrorist List.......he makes Bin Laden look like a small time pick pocket. The f'ker publicly states, "The US is a leech on the World Economy", which we probably are, but what do we do, give him Billions in aide. His crimes against the Ukraine, are unforgivable. Firing up Pro-Russian or proxy Rusky terrorists, to seek, destroy and create chaos.....

what I'd give to see a stray non-traceable (NATO hosted) Nuke hit the Kremlin in session, with Pukin at the podium. OOoops just another error, we're so sorry....no difference I see in the downed Airliner, than a strike on the Kremlin. Russia has become nothing more than a Paper Tiger, with a roar as small as a kitty kat....

    Free Crimea-Free Tibet....!!!

The Snow Lion has been roaring since 57, and double digit millions have died on top of the world. For 20 years, China has been using Tibet as/for Nuclear Waste Dumps, WTF-are they thinking, let the waste (placed in the highest point on Earth), leak down into the water supplies of half the planet....? Knowing Chinese nuke waste tech, they're probably placing the waste in Hefty Trash Bags.....!!!

while the world turns its head(s)....

It's unreal that they would shoot down a commercial jet 33,000 feet in the air.

__Oct. 4, 2001: An errant surface-to-air missile fire by the Ukrainian military during exercises in the Crimea causes the crash of an Air Siberia airliner en route from Tel Aviv to Novosibirsk. All 78 people on board were killed.

—Oct. 20, 1998: Rebels in eastern Congo shoot down a Congo Airlines passenger jet carrying 40 people. The plane crashes into a densely forested area just outside of Kindu, about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) east of Kinshasa.

—Sept. 22, 1993 - Abkhazian rebels in Georgia shoot down a passenger plane, killing 80. A day earlier, 28 died when a Russian Tu-134 was hit by Abkhazian fire and crashed into the Black Sea.

—July 3, 1988: U.S. warship Vincennes shoots down an Iranian passenger plane over the Persian Gulf, mistaking it for a threatening warplane, during the war between Iraq and Iran. All 290 people aboard are killed. United States pays more than $ 130 million in a 1996 settlement that includes compensation for families of the victims.

—April 10, 1988: Afghan guerrillas shoot down a Soviet-built passenger jet, killing all 29 people aboard. Soviet television condemns the incident, especially after announcements that a negotiated end to the 10-year-old Afghan war is near.

—Sept. 1, 1983: A Soviet fighter jet shoots down a Korean Air Lines passenger jet en route from New York to Seoul, purportedly mistaking the craft for a spy plane as it wandered into Soviet airspace west of Sakhalin Island. All 269 people aboard are killed. The incident helped lead to the commercial release of GPS for civilian use, including aviation. The technology was developed by the U.S. military.

—April 20, 1978: An off-course South Korean jetliner carrying 110 people is attacked by a Soviet MiG fighter and is forced to crash land on a frozen lake near Murmansk, killing two passengers.

—Feb. 21, 1973: Libyan Airlines Flight 114 en route from Tripoli to Cairo goes off course, crossing the Suez Canal into airspace over the Israeli-held Sinai Desert. Israel claims the plane refuses to identify itself and two Air Force Phantom jets fire at it to force it to land. The aircraft goes out of control and crashes, killing 108 people. There are five survivors.

I remember that KAL liner incident well. One of the Flight Crew members was a daughter to the Korean Service Personnel Supervisor personnel assigned to our Battalion S/4. Very sad times, Mr. Kim was well liked and respected by US and KATUSA soldiers alike.

Touche- Obama the deposed Emperor wannabe-

KAL-007 a travesty the Russians still have yet to make amends for.....

On-board Discovery's 1st mission was the 1st ever GPS Satellite, launched and deployed. Circa 1983. Prior to Launch, Discovery was fitted with the 1st GPS Unit, ever built....

Over-night, by the flick of a switch, the USA, had GPS capability. Now, most new cars have GPS, but few motorists have a clue about the history of GPS, its creation, deployment, or initial intent/capabilities.

GPS Tech, and its now common use by motorist, is a Landmark Historical Technology, taken for granted by motorists. Why is it History is lost on this upcoming "Generation S".....? Is it Naivete, or Spoiled Slackers, or they just don't give a shit.

"Those who fail to learn the lessons of History are doomed to repeat its mistakes"....

Just another in the long list of benefits, the General Public reap, yet take for granted, without a clue, where or how the Tech developed, and for what initial reason. Another by-product from the often secretive Aerospace World. No different than the Air Nike's millions wear, a by-product of the Moon Walk...!

"Tang", the worst Aerospace Invention, devised, well the taste anyway, not the initial intent, just the effing putrid taste...!!!
