They need to bring up Dustin Ackley already! Mariners are playing decent, I think it has more to do with Langerhans and Bradley just sucking the joint up.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yup. It's less a "youth movement" than a "these guys don't provide any value movement."

you mean, if we hadn't have decided to sweep the A's to cap a 61-win season? Winning 1 of those 3 games means that we have a potential Cy Young winner recovering from Tommy John right now.

Really not that hard of a concept.

Think of it as the Mariners (a baseball team) cutting two players and bringing up two players from the minor league system (that is like D-league in basketball).

Baseball is sport where you try and hit a ball with a bat (piece of wood) . . .

Speaking of youth movement. Not enough love for Pineda. What an awesome #2 we have.

Yes, and they (along with, of course, most other teams) passed on Mike Trout.

Trout's looking like a monster. Hopefully Ackley doesn't disappoint.

I've got him on my fantasy team... picked him up as a keeper last year after reading a shit-ton of great things about Michael. He's 22 years old and he looks like a total stud, doesn't he?

Exactly. I don't think they're going with the youngsters because they're young... I think they're going with them because they don't have any real options other than guys who've been really, really bad.

Gutierrez will almost certainly play ahead of the young guys when he's healthy.

He's got a 97MPH fastball (that floats to 100MPH) with some ridiculous movement. His slider is killer and his cutter reminds me of Rivera's (although, inconsistent). If we can get some offense, draft wisely with our high picks, and a very good #3, we've got ourselves an elite team in a few years.

He's got a great attitude on the mound, too. It's hard to know what a guy's made of until he fails a little bit, but he looks like a confident winner out there.

I remember two years ago, I was bitching at S2 about this lol. I still concede that we should have lost out our last 3 games.

Damn. Can you imagine having King Felix, Michael Pineda AND Strasburg!?!

I was never so happy to see my A's lose games as that final series that season. :D

Could've drafted home town guy Lincecum over Brandon Morrow as well. Bavasi was too worried about how his arm would hold up, not taking into account his mechanics which put little strain on his arm.

That was a big fail. I knew it at the time.

Meh, 9 other teams passed on him.

Strasburg on the other hand, we could have had, if we had just stuck to the season-long blueprint of losing.
