<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) - With their first draft pick
under new general manager Mike Keenan, the Florida Panthers
selected Czech center Rostislav Olesz seventh overall.

NHL Central Scouting's third-ranked European prospect, Olesz had
a goal and 11 assists in 35 games with Vitkovice of the Czech
    senior league.

At 6-1 and 202 pounds, Olesz has size and maturity that drew
raves from scouts, and it was a mild surprise he was available
    for the Panthers.

Olesz is an above-average skater who boasts an arsenal of
offensive skills. Described by some as a finesse player, he
does not shy away from a physical game. And he is aware of his
    defensive responsibilities.

"Olesz's an offensive skilled player who played in the elite
league in the Czech Republic, and we are very happy with this
selection," said Keenan, who was hired on May 26.</div>
