OT: NJ interested in Boozer? Can we pry away Harris?

What about trying to get NJ and Utah to agree to this trade?

Utah out: Carlos Boozer
Utah In: Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw

Utah gets a starting SG and backup SF and gets closer to salary cap relief. They get real value for Boozer at a position of need (SG).

New Jersey In: Carlos Boozer, Jerryd Bayless
New Jersey Out: Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell

New Jersey gets a potential front court that could lure in Lebron with Boozer and Lopez. They also get a small scoring combo guard who can penetrate in Bayless. Boozer is expiring which would make them even bigger players in 2010 FA market if Boozer won't re-up. NJ can't trade for Boozer unless they move Harris or a grip of untalented players with bad contracts that Utah won't want.

Portland Out: Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw, Jerryd Bayless
Porltand In: Devin Harris, Treton Hassell

Portland would go on to sign David Lee and then trade Przybilla for Battier.

Final lineup:

PG: Harris/Blake/Jeter
SG: Roy/Battier
SF: Battier/Batum
PF: LMA/Lee/Cunningham
C: Oden/LMA/Lee/Pendergraph

That lineup challenges LA next year and probably wins the West.

I'd think NJ would want Boozer to pair up with Harris.

 

Don't they want LeBron next year? Boozer/Lopez front court > Harris/Lopez IMO.

Besides they can't take boozer without giving up like 10 million+ in salary.

 

You really love your three step plan of move x, ST Lee, and trade for Battier don't you? It's absolutely everywhere.

 

And Rudy and Joel are always the ones being traded.

 

Well I want Battier, badly. I feel he was THE reason we lost that series last year. The game where Oden shut down Yao in most of the second half Battier was absolute nails hitting HUGE clutch shots and making all the right decisions. Watching that series I realized Battier was vastly better then I thought. I think Houston would only trade Battier for one of Joel, LMA or Oden as they are desperate for a big man. The obvious choice for us is to give up Joel. That only works if we improve our depth at front court.

That's why I liked the Millsap signing, because I felt the next step would be to trade Joel, likely for a PG or SF. When I thought about the possibilities the one that jumped out at me is Battier. He has the playoff experience and more importantly an incredible knowledge of the game and BBIQ. He is the ideal candidate to mentor Batum, I think even better then Prince. He would add so much to these team I don't know where to begin.

 

And why is that funny? Those are the only two potentially tradeable guys on this team that actually have some serious value. All these Blake/Outlaw for ridiculous top tier players are absurd and would never happen. We have to give up one of the following to get serious talent: Rudy, Batum, Joel. Period. The obvious choice to go would be Joel if we add front court depth or Rudy whenever. He will never be satisfied with backup minutes he isn't a 3 and definitely not a 1. Brandon Roy is our 2.

Blake is ok but Outlaw has little value neither are enough to get a "lopsided" or even salary for salary trades for real talent.

People complain about KP over valuing our guys and then put Joel and Rudy on a pedastel.

 

Przybilla for Battier is a horrible deal for us, man. These guys are not untouchable by any sense, but I expect some sort of good value in return.

 

If NJ isn't giving up Harris, I'd absolutely love to get CDR somehow out of this.

 

You do realize that possibly as early as next season Oden will start playing 30+ minutes a game maybe 35+. Joel is a HORRIBLE value at 6million a year as a backup playing 15 minutes a game. I would rather have LMA play those 15 minutes maybe with someone taking some spot minutes there (Lee, Pendergraph) and get value for that huge salary slot and a bench player who is like the training wheels for this team at the bigs. At some point we need to address need. Batum is not ready to be a 30+ minute per game SF. Outlaw is gone and Martell may or may not come back.

Battier is easily the best SF that is potentially available. Houston needs a big man it's pretty straight forward. Don't you realize Joel would have been traded if we got Millsap? Who do you think for at what position and why? I've been pretty clear why I think Battier will be one of the final moves this summer or at least there will be a serious push to get him. Please tell me who you think they would have traded Joel for. Unless you think it was LMA or Oden that was being traded if we sign Millsap.

 

CDR is obviously far more likely to be sent out of NJ then Harris. If Utah is forced to use us for cap space in a NJ trade I think CDR isn't a bad target. Of course that would make Rudy expendable. I used Hassell as a cap matcher as NJ couldn't absorb Boozer + 2 million and was 4 million over so I added Hassell and it matched you could probably throw CDR in. He would be almost an after thought compared to Harris.

 

I envision CDR starting at the three. I would bring Batum off the bench for either Aldridge or CDR. I really like CDR. Very skilled. Long. Smart. No experience, so this is probably just my pipe dream.

We could move Outlaw to Utah. Utah sends Boozer to NJ. NJ sends CDR to us.

We still have the pieces to work a sign-and-trade for Andre Miller or Nate Robinson.

Why would NJ bring in a player like Boozer only to turn around and trade their only good player?

 

They wouldn't.

Unless, would a package of Boozer and Bayless be enough to get Harris and CDR?

 

1) Chris Douglas Roberts is a 2. He played more PG last year than he played SF.

2) He can't shoot.

3) He barely played for a bad New Jersey team.

4) People are officially starting to lose their minds. When does camp begin?

 

If we could offer the cap relief and send out Bayless, Rudy, & Outlaw, that would be perfect.

Harris and Roy would be interchangeable at both guard spots so we wouldn't have to rely on Webster very much. Our bench would be thinned out but our starting 5 would be stacked.

 

NJ just doesn't get enough. I would put Harris near the top of my list of guys I want that might be somewhat gettable, but there is no way NJ does that trade. I am going to go try and come up with an alternative, be back soon.

 

I would be ecstatic if that was our starting 5. I would look to improve SF at that point and probably back up PF.

 

Pretty thin at the swing. Maybe then we could sign Udoka and call it a summer.

 

He's a wing. He's 6'7". And he's long. He can play the 3. NJ has/had several wings, which is likely why 82games.com shows his as a 2, 1, and 3.

That wasn't his role in NJ. The dude can shoot. I watched him shoot over 40% from distance his last year with Memphis. Lots of players enter the league and struggle at first. He's a strong FT shooter, and his overall TS% is high. He'll improve is 3-pt shot, like other solid college ball players have.

He's a rookie. He had quite a few players ahead of him. He got 13 minutes. He'll get more.

Whatever. CDR reminds me a lot of Brandon Roy. He looked good in his minutes that he got last season and he looked good in the Summer League games I watched.
