4/1/1941 - 2/26/2009 Bummer... I listed Stormin' Norman as one of my all-time favorite non-Blazers a couple days ago in that thread. Now, I am saddened to learn of his death. I lived in NW Indiana during the early 1970s and the Bulls were my favorite team. In those pre-cable, pre-satellite days, I was fortunate to live close enough to Chicago to get all the Bulls games over-the-air. So, I had the pleasure of watching Norm Van Lier play many, many times. Van Lier and Jerry Sloan were one of the best defensive backcourts I've seen in over 40 years of watching NBA basketball. Van Lier was a fearless and aggressive defender. He made 1st or 2nd team all-defense 8 years in a row, and was also top 5 in assists 6 times. I really liked watching him play and was sorry to hear of his death. BNM
