People keep talking about how cool it is, but why? It hasn't sped up the process at all. Instead of looking at footage from the TV trucks, they're looking at footage from New Jersey and it has taken about the same time. I don't get what the fuss is about. Seems like a waste of money.
I agree. Barrett keeps parroting the same thing whenever they use it.. But I don't see how it's helping at all. Seems to take more time than it used to actually.
But go back last year and time how long it took ME to show the definitive look and how long it has taken the Jersey Boys. I can PROMISE you it is taking longer this season!
Its the evolution of replay. Eventually all the replays will be done there and that will free the ref's up some as well as take out any bias or bad reffing. Right now its a odd hybrid or both that seems to add to the process rather than helping.
Also someone is putting a banner on the replay at games that says something like, "This is the same video the replay officials are looking at, this is cool!" except last night the fucking banner box was blocking the part that everyone was trying to see (the ball hitting Blake in the ass before rolling out of bounds.) I hate when the news does this. "Look at this car accident!" but all you can see is the antenna ball because KGW insists on putting their giant fucking banner over the picture.
It's awful. It takes five minutes to make a call that everyone at home can see clearly after 30 seconds. Not only that, I thought that clear path foul against Batum in the Sacramento game was insane - he was clearly between the man and the basket at the time of the foul, it wasn't even close and they still got it wrong.
The thing is, they say there is all this "new technology". Not at all. They are doing what we have done for years. The only difference is the camera signals have to be sent back to New Jersey. They have no different angles than we do.
This is what I dont get. How it can be so obviously to us at home and they still get it wrong quiet a bit. I get they are human and there is a margin of error but it hasnt been wrong way to much.
Here is the conspiracy theory angle. Are they telling the refs how to read the replay all the way from the east coast? Is there a reason both games had bad review calls that were not in favor of the Blazers? I just love this stuff.....
Whenever they do this during a game the Moda should put on the big screen a video of a bunch of clowns piling into a car with a sign post pointing to New Jersey in the background.
Did the replays get the out of bounds play right? I was at the game and went on Blazer blackout mode after the loss so haven't heard the analysis of that call.
Tough to tell? Did the ball hit Blake? You just can't be sure from the footage. But that was what they said and they overturned a call in favor of GS.
