not a bad move if looking for the easiest route to a BCS Bowl. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=5862368
This works out well for Boise also. With TCU out of the way, they should be hands on favorites each year to get the non AQ bid to the BCS
interesting indeed... that didnt even click in my mind that BSU would be the big time non AQ school with TCU and Utah gone now. How do schools like Notre Dame and now BYU factor into non AQ stuff? Not that they are good enough now though. Anyone know?
Going independent was probably the best thing BYU could do. They realized the Pac-10 would never add them. The Mountain West would never get BCS status. Non-BCS teams would never (if rarely ever) get into the championship with the bad schedules they have to endure. So go independent and make your own schedule. Now if only enough BCS schools would take them on. Good move for the Big East and TCU. They didn't want to be a part of that financially lopsided Big XII.
