Seattle sports talk radio is reporting there are strong rumors that OSU great Gary Payton is on his way to the HOF. Good stuff. Edit: https://twitter.com/SHowardCooper/statuses/319838805953757185
His 58-point game against USC in 1990 is still the greatest college basketball game I've ever witnessed.
Ralph Miller and Gary Payton sure seemed like a strange combo at first blush, but dang did that ever work out well. I still wonder what kind of player Payton would've been, if Ralph hadn't been there to guide him in the early going.
Good recent article on Payton: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-t...st-john-stockton-and-the-art-of-talking-trash When he was still in Seattle, I used to kayak near his yacht on Lake Union. It was pretty swanky, but more like a dinghy by Paul Allen standards.
Sweet deal, just bought a basketball signed by the new HOFer for $99. Not sure if anyone else is interested, but here's an attempt at the link: http://www.insidersportsdeals.com/G...051a9aed03-Payton_Basketball&utm_medium=email FWIW, the place offering it is legit.
Looks like my title is messing everyone up...I almost went with "Smell the Glove" as a title, but tried to go descriptive instead. Bad choice on my part lol
one of my very favorites as well... I just loved GP. Seeing him and Terrell Brandon square off at Mac Court was epic a favorite quote from him responding to a question about if he felt humbled being drafted #2 overall, when the two highest guards drafted in recent years were MJ & Magic. "Players like Michael Magic and MYSELF aren't available very often". STOMP
