I used to be a fan of the NBA when the Knicks were actually competitive. I since checked out on the league for over a decade. I just don't see getting emotionally involved with a league and sport where it's setup for it to be pretty much the same final every single year. As it stands now we're almost certainly getting the Heat again in the final against either a team they played two years ago or a team they played last year.
Vic I've been a huge fan for 50+ years but even I find myself losing interest. And then when the team that finishes up with the 9th worst record ends up with the #1 pick it bothers me even more. And this is now the 3rd time in the last 4 years that the same team got the over all #1 pick even though they weren't the worst team.
No doubt, Jordan brought in more NBA viewers than anyone I can recall. When I was a kid, it was Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Bill Russell, John Havelicheck (sp), Walt Frazier and Willis Reed. Followed by Pistol Pete, Lew Alcindor, Magic, Bird, then a pause....until MJ set the bar a few rungs higher. Since then, I rarely watch the NBA. Hell, I'd rather watch badmitton these days..... the NBA has fallen a very long way down, much like Rick pointed out....!
