That's 0 points per36. Looks like he'll suck this year. Preseason is so important towards deciding how well a player will play in the regular season and playoffs.

Spurs would be better off with Nolan Smith.

    This needs its own thread?

It's not about Tony Parker having a bad game. It's about everyone in this forum overreacting to how our players have been playing in the preseason and yes, I think that does deserve its own thread. We have to keep in mind that preseason means nothing when making blanket statements about players right now.

    If you disagree, explain why.

Why not just start a thread about people overreacting about preseason? I don't give a shit about Tony Parker.

That IS the thread I started. It's about overreacting to preseason stats. I opened with a specific example. I can't believe I have to explain this to you.

You've made this point before, so I knew what you were talking about. Just to support your point a little bit:
The bulls lost a couple of preseason games the year they won 69 games in the regular season.
The lakers went 0-8 and went on to the playoffs.

That being said, the preseason means something. I watched the first preseason game against the Clippers and I can assure you that Chris Paul was treating it like a playoff game - very serious.

We've been a dominant rebounding team in the preseason so I am sure we will be very good in the regular season, too. It doesn't mean we'll be dominant though.

We've been a very good defensive team in the preseason and I fully expect we'll be vastly improved over last year. It doesn't mean we'll be well above average though.

We're probably leading the league in turnovers. It doesn't mean we'll lead the league during the regular season, but it does mean that it's a big problem that will have some carryover into the regular season.

Well I did a little research, and it turns out that 0 points in 18 minutes in a preseason game for a French PG against the defending champs, without the best player on the planet (rest), who beat his team in 7 games in last season's finals...extrapolates to Tony Parker scoring 17 pts on 5-13 shooting with 3 rebounds and 5 assists in a 2014 Game 6 WCF loss to the upstart Portland Trailblazers!

So the preseason does mean something!

Well, he obviously burned himself out playing for France this summer.

Bench him, he's no good for the Spurs this year.

I get what you are saying. Especially for Vets. How many eventual good teams suck in the preseason and how many bad teams have winning records? It happens every year.

Totally true. Any game that helps players and coaches develop their games; then it matters
