So are we just going to sit back and watch the Worriers get better? I know it's a ways off but the Blazers could be the team the Blazers go up against in the playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors have acquired Jordan Crawford and Marshon Brooks for Toney Douglas and part of their traded player exception in a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.

The Warriors have been looking to improve their backcourt depth, with discussions also taking place for Kyle Lowry and Kirk Hinrich.

The Heat will acquire Douglas, while sending Joel Anthony to the Celtics.

The Celtics will also receive the protected future first round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers from the Heat, along with a future second round pick. The pick from the 76ers is lottery protected in 2014 and 2015 and then becomes a second rounder.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN reports that the deal will likely save upwards of $10 million for the Heat in salary and luxury tax. The Heat were scheduled to have a $33 million tax bill in July, but it is now approximately $15.5 million due to the trade of Anthony and their decision to amnesty Mike Miller.

Interesting. I don't know if we can get anyone to take on Dorrell Wright and scrubs or even Mo Williams. Those are the only big pieces we can really trade away without messing up our chemistry too much.

Not worried at all. If the Blazers end up in a playoff series against the Blazers the Blazers will win!

Meyers Leonard or Thomas Robinson or maybe even Freeland if it's good enough.

Sounds like the Warriors got a couple pieces just got to wait and see how their rotation works out. Plus the Warriors still play terrible defense so adding two offensive guys won't help on that end.

If only we could figure out a way to exploit our lack of interior defense, then we'd really dominate ourselves!

GS is the #4 def in the league behind ind, chi, and okc. It is the reason they have been able to survive a horrible 12 game stretch, no bench, and a recent curry shooting slum what they desperately needed was scoring off the bench

What is our biggest need right now?

Bench production? CJ is back and TRob is clearly improving.

Defense? every player on the team says this is more about effort than personnel or strategy.

Inside scoring? CJ seems like he can be a slasher, Dame should be able to finish better (at least get back to where he was last year), and RoLo is a definite scoring threat.

I don't see anything glaring here. And we don't have any pending financial/contract issues either. We look pretty damn good right now, and if healthy, we should have HCA for the first round at the least. Once we get a playoff run and teams begin to expose our deficiencies after a few 7 game series, we will better know what to look for in trades. No point in giving up assets in pursuit of something we might not need.

I think our acquisition of a healthy CJ > Two chuckers in crawford and Brooks.

I think Ainge won this deal. A future protected first from PHL (via MIA) to exchange scrubs essentially. He's been picking up so many assets lately.

At this point I don't make a trade. CJ is developing, TRob is back in the rotation and hungry, and I am extremely happy with Joel. I guess at this point we just hope that Mo and Wright come out of their slump.

I'd be shocked if Brooks plays, but CJ and Crawford seem pretty similar to me- at least their roles will be similar. I would hate to have to start Crawford but as the only scorer of the bench, I don't mind his chucker mentality. If he's having a horrible game, which he can definitely do, he gets yanked after 10 minutes and the W's are in the same position they are in now and if he is hot he can carry a team for stretches. We don't (at least I don't) have a clear picture on what CJ will end up being but as of now I'd expect CJ to be more efficient scoring, Crawford to be the better "point guard" and to be a more volatile scorer.

Good deal for boston but I have no idea why Miami would do this. Douglas has a role as a plus defender of the bench but I can't imagine him playing over Chalmers or Cole.

    Yes.

But I prefer to watch the Blazers continue to get better, and not worry about it.

I see signs that Mo may be coming around. Perhaps with CJ helping out and some improvement of our other backups Mo won't seem so desperate to do it all by himself? :dunno:
