    I don't understand why Phelps didn't deny the whole thing. It's a picture. There is ZERO way they could prove he was smoking weed unless they drug tested him, but it would have been out of his system by now. He could have said he was just posing with it to be funny or that it was full of tobacco. Albeit, not very believable, but still it would have worked.

    That's not relevant. They also were arrested with no evidence or proof of murder.

    They were arrested for possession and, in one case, distribution. Not use. Presumably there is some evidence that they violated the crimes they were arrested for.

    They were charged with possession because it's allegedly in their bodies not because they had any.

    I think that would have been a bad idea. This was a mistake by Phelps that has tarnished his image. But if he is confronted with a photo and his public statement was it was tabacco and/or a joke . . . the truth would eventually come out and he becomes a liar, I don't think he would ever get another endorsement deal.

    This now can be characterized as a 23 year old making a dumb mistake and owning up to it and it shouldn't get any worse for him publically. . . the criminal charge in Phelp's world is no big deal, it's not like he is going to do any jail time.

    Was the guy charged with distribution charged because he was distributing from within his body, too?

    And you're asserting that there is no evidence or proof, but they were arrested?

    Did the police roll dice to see who from the party would be charged, or did they make all the party-goers pick straws to see who would be charged and for what crimes?

    And where are you getting this info? I didn't see it in the video you linked to.

    No whats fucked up is people being arrested for Marijuana, anytime, anyplace. Its completely disgusting that people are serving prison time for getting a little bit high, our tax dollars are paying for it, and they are removed from society when they could otherwise be productive.

    I have never heard of police issuing UA's to someone and then arresting them if they fail. If your on probation and have a probation officer who gives UA's thats one thing. But thats just nuts that they are arresting people for having weed in their system. I'd like to see how crowded our jail cells would be if every one was subject to a UA. The weed in South Carolina is probably as potent as a menthol cigarette.

    He did something illegal. They're after him for it. I don't see why there's so much outrage. You can complain all you want about how pot isn't that bad or whatever, but when it comes down to it, it's still illegal. It's not like he's going to go to jail for 10 years. He's still a U.S. citizen, and I was under the impression that the laws apply to everyone, not just people who aren't athletes that are getting pity from analysts on ESPN for their loss of endorsements and image hits.
