If you're not first, you're last.

Well I think this game proves what many of us said months ago..... ND never should have been ranked this high, and had no business being in the Natty.

Oregon is better than ND, I have no doubt about that. It would have made for a much better game. But ND was the only team without a loss and they beat some legit competition, so they had to be in.

Ducks would have made it a much better game, but I still think Alabama would win. Their offensive/defensive line and running game is incredible.

It is very likely that Bama would have won, BUT the main point is that ND shouldn't have been there. This is why the BCS is plain stupid. Yes, they beat Stanford, USC, and Oklahoma, but they also played (and almost lost) to some VERY shitty teams as well. USC was terrible this year. Stanford was probably their best win, and it was controversial.

This feels very much like '01 to me. Ducks probably could have been in the title game--were it not for a close loss to Stanford--but played in the Fiesta Bowl instead, waxing the Big 12 champ, while a dominant team destroyed an inferior opponent in the NCG, and UO ends up #2 in all the polls.

Back then, I was glad the Ducks didn't have to play Miami; this year, I feel the same about Alabama.

They went undefeated with a respectable strength of schedule, they deserved to be there. The argument IMO is the fact that they shouldnt have been undefeated, Stanford won that game!

Yes the Stanford game and three OT's against Pitt was clear to me that ND shouldn't even be a top five school! Let's also remember they played a Barkley less USC team too!
