Caron Butler and Mike James are rumored to be going to either Miami or Chicago. It would be interesting to know for whom. Would / Could the Blazers get in on this action?

I know there's been a lot of hub bub on this board about Butler.

KP doesn't like to make midseason trades. Plus, Nate can't coach too much talent.

Yeah seriously.. Wizards can do a lot better than Hinrich and James. That's a ridiculous rumor.

I don't understand this one from a Bulls perspective either. Butler is probably a better player than Hinrich in the abstract, but he plays the wrong position, is older, and more expensive. I don't get it.

It's because you're trading Luol Deng to us.

    Probably?

    It's not even close, IMO.

But I agree with your other point, why for the Bulls? SF is not their problem.

The Wizards are itching to make a trade, we need to make a run for Butler, this is the most available he has been in years.

Butler's contract only runs through one more year after this one, so maybe the Bulls are more interested in getting out from underneath a longer term salary commitment (even if it is slightly cheaper per year).

Perhaps, but they've spent a lot of time trying to clear maximum cap space for next year. So from that perspective it's pretty crazy.

I'm interested for a reasonable price.

    How's about:
    Kirk to Wiz
    Butler to Blazers
    Rudy, Blake, Outlaw to Bulls

I love Rudy but I'd make that trade. I want to see a Roy-Rudy backcourt for extended minutes, but Butler would fit more of a need for this team as a starting SF. Rudy has upside and youth but Butler is more proven and being a recent All-Star I don't think Rudy's upside is much higher.

I'm not sure if Kirk for Butler makes a lot of sense to the Wiz, but who knows.

You think Kirk is worth that? You're out of your freaking mind.

Well, were I Ernie Grunfeld, I wouldn't be entertaining the idea of trading Butler for Kirk. Please direct your complaints regarding mental state to him.
