Better known as 'OJ Mayo'. What do you guys think of this guy? His potential has been somewhat downgraded because he has not shown big time development not to mention he's well over a year older than people in his class. But non the less he's a big prospect and a top 5 pick most likely. He's 6'4" and around 200 pounds, quick, relentless driving to the basket (thats where he gets the Wade comparisons) he's just intense. His defense can be very good, he has a lightning quick first step and he can pass. I see him being a lot like Wade in the NBA. The guys a scorer and thats what he will do. He's like a Wade/Arenas type in my opinion.

I think he's a bit overated. Is he very talented? Yes. But is he as good as people say he is? No. He has some maturity and atitude problems and seems to be lost right now in the transistion to HS to College. Quite frankly, I think Eric Gordon is a much better talent and NBA prospect. At best OJ Mayo will most likely be a taller kirk hinrich. I hope he proves me wrong, but there are too many questions surrounding him.

    It's Mayo, not Majo... lol

But I have only seen Mayo play in one game, and he scored over 30. I mean, sure it was against High School competition, but you could just tell that this kid was a rare talent. He has all the skills, all the athleticism, and all the hype. I hope his attitude doesn't get the best of him. But again, I have only seen him once. I need to see him play more.

With Mayo's first step and agressiveness it doesn't matter how tall he is.

Hinrich is a pass first guy who runs the offense...OJ Mayo is an aggressive drive to the basket scorer/shooter. Kirk Hinrich isn't going to break your ankles going to the rim like a Wade/Mayo/Arenas, and Kirk is nowhere near the athlete those 3 are.

So does Sebastian Telfair. Does that make him a "shorter Hinrich?" The styles of play are completely different. Mayo is a scoring combo guard that will wow the crowd and get on SportsCenter. Hinrich is a guy that takes it slow, sets up the offense, gets everyone involved, makes smart decisions, and is a leader. The style of play is so incredibly different.

Doesn't mean there like Hinrich. I've been watching Mayo for 3 years now..He's just a stud, great size, good passing ability, great athlete, good shooter, he can create his own shot very well..He is older than most of the seniors in this class, he's like 19 years old now. I love this kid though, he's got such a great future ahead of him.

this guy has been followed since he was in like 7th grade. I don't know how good he is tho really. you can't make judgements from what other people say, I think you have to actually see him play and I would like to see the dude play. I dunno if he has games played on tv like lebron did but that would be pretty sweet if it did.

I heard about this guy, was going to graduate to the NBA, until that collective bargaining agreement, he also failed a year like BCB said, but was playing with high school players in like grade 7 (or grade 8)...He did draw a crowd of like 16,000 not to long ago I heard .... Is compared to Lebron Melo and Wade I heard but I dont think its true, excellent three point shooter as well.. O btw quick tidbit, his mentioned as a 'scoring first' point gaurd, so he seems liek Iverson to me, just not as quick

I've heard that he is a very good passer. I would probably compare him to Dwyane Wade. He will probably be less of a ball hog and the better passer than Arenas.

Wade is a great comparison, except he can really shoot the 3 ball very well.

How old is Mayo? Is he at least 19 to even enter the 2007 draft?

While Hinrich is better at shooting from the outside, and doesn't drive as much to the basket, Mayo relies on his quickness and athletic ability to score. Now Mayo can still shoot the ball, but he doesn't rely on outside jumpshots to score. He is nothing like Hinrich...

Good god what a game by Mayo tonight.. 47 points, 7 boards, awesome passes..His jumper is incredible for his age, he's bigger and much stronger than everyone, he has range well beyond the NBA 3, his vision is phenomenal, his handles are great... He started out very slow, but that didn't get him down. He came back and led Huntington back into the game, and he got them into OT. He's the total package, and he will be one HELL OF A PLAYER. He just needs to let his game do the talking, and stay out of trouble..

I read that he had to take a grade over again (go figure) and that Mayo is a year older than the other people in his class. I wish I could have seen the game now that I've seen the stat-line...
