Free agent guard Pablo Prigioni has reached agreement on a three-year, $6 million contract to re-sign with the New York Knicks, league sources told RealGM.

Prigioni’s new deal with the Knicks allows him to earn $2 million per season and includes a team option in the third season, partially guaranteed, a source said.

With Jason Kidd retired and now coaching the Brooklyn Nets, the Knicks moved swiftly to bring back Prigioni. After the season ended in the Eastern Conference semifinals, Prigioni went back to his native Argentina to contemplate his future, but the 36-year-old returned before the NBA draft and notified the Knicks that he planned to continue playing in the NBA.

Prigioni has given Mike Woodson an experienced, sharp point guard, and the Knicks understood his importance early in free agency. Prigioni averaged 3.5 points and three assists in 78 games a season ago. The Knicks also re-signed J.R. Smith on Thursday.
