Pacers Invite Rush & Graham to Tryouts

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">he Indiana Pacers took a step toward improving their perimeter shooting Tuesday.

The Pacers signed guard Kareem Rush, Stephen Graham and former Perry Meridian High School and Indiana University player Andre Owens. All are expected to take part in the Pacers' rookie/free agent camp starting Thursday at Conseco Fieldhouse (roster, Page D7).

"We wanted to find outside shooters," Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh said. "We believe we got two without having to make a big trade. Kareem and Graham are both good shooters. Kareem is a great shooter."

Rush, a 2002 first-round pick, has four years of NBA experience. Charlotte released him with nine games left in the 2005-06 season because of his work ethic. He spent last season in the Lithuanian League. The Pacers spoke with people in the Charlotte organization before signing Rush to a minimum contract.

Rush and Graham figure to help a Pacers team that finished 30th in the league in field goal percentage last season. Rush is a career 35 percent 3-point shooter. He scored a career-high 35 points against the Pacers in 2005 and helped the Los Angeles Lakers close out the Western Conference finals when he made 6-of-7 3-pointers against the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2003-04 season.</div>
