Pacers/Kings/Spurs Rumore <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Indiana, Sacramento and San Antonio are on the verge of a three-team trade that would send Brad Miller to the Kings, ESPN.com has learned. The deal would foil attempts by Utah and Denver to sign the free-agent center. HERE'S THE DEAL (SO FAR) Kings get: C Brad Miller Pacers get: F/C Scot Pollard Spurs get: G/F Hedo Turkoglu and G Ron Mercer The deal calls for Indiana to sign Miller to a multiyear deal and ship him to the Kings, who consider him the ideal long-term replacement for Vlade Divac, the 35-year-old center entering the final year of his contract. As part of the exchange, Indiana would receive Scot Pollard as a replacement for Miller, after the Pacers determined that they couldn't absorb the luxury-tax implications of meeting Miller's money demands. The trade would also send swingmen Hedo Turkoglu and Ron Mercer to the Spurs as potential replacements for free agent Stephen Jackson. Turkoglu and Mercer are both in the final year of their contracts, preserving San Antonio's salary-cap flexibility for next summer when it must re-sign Manu Ginobili. Jackson is seeking a long-term deal. It's expected that at least one more player will be involved in the deal, likely going to Indiana, to satisfy salary-cap requirements. </div> http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/stein_marc/1584734.html
The deal looks good for the Spurs- they Ron Mercer and Hedo Turkoglu, who is going to break out as soon as he gets a chance to. The Pacers are the biggest losers if this deal goes down- but it remains to be seen who the Spurs throw in.
Why would you get divac? anyways..seems Sjax is going to pacers in the trade..no truth to that rumour yet though
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting sportsrock37:</div><div class="quote_post">spurs will probably give up ginobili or someone like that.</div> i dont think they would get rid of him, he could have a break out season next yr.. but anyways that trade would be a great pickup for the kings. The spurs would also get a deeper bench
The article says they aren't sure what the Spurs would be giving up. They don't have too many players under contract, maybe it would involve a sign and trade with Stephen Jackson. Seems like a pick or two would have to go as well. The article says tha San Antonio is trying to presever cap space for Ginobli, so it doesn't seem like he'd be involved. The Pacers would be the team who needs to get something in return Brad Miller and Ron Mercer for Pollard is a little weak- especially considering Mercer has an expiring deal (6.6 million).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">Manu is untouchable -Coach pop...</div> good thing too. they won't get all that talent for such a low salary when he wants to resign
I like this trade from the Kings and Spurs points of view. Kings get a replacement for Divac who is slowly disinegrating(sp?). Spurs get Turkoglu, finally he can showcase his skills somewhere else.
ah, true. Turkoglu spreads the floor for Timmy and can hit open shots. Brad Miller would be great for the Kings
