<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You're forgiven if the name Robert Rothbart doesn't ring a bell. He's the 7-1 center who teased Hoosiers fans by signing a letter of intent with Indiana University before deciding to play basketball professionally in France. Rothbart, who could be preparing for his sophomore season with the Hoosiers, was taking part in the Indiana Pacers' rookie/free agent camp this week. His stay, however, ended Tuesday when he was cut. Nick Billings, Jave Meade, Kevinn Pinkney and Shane Power, a former Indianapolis Star Indiana All-Star, were also cut. About 30 minutes before the cut was announced, Rothbart said he probably would play out the second year of his contract in France, where he missed almost all of last season with a shoulder injury. "This was a chance for me to come here and see how I match up against some of these guys," said Rothbart, who was an early entry candidate in the 2004 draft out of high school before withdrawing his name and signing with IU. "But I see myself going back overseas." Rothbart doesn't like to consider what might have been when talking about his decision not to play college basketball. But he says the Hoosiers would have been a good team had he and Josh Smith, who skipped college and was the No. 17 pick in the 2004 draft, played together. "It probably would have been a great team. It just didn't work out," said Rothbart, who starred in high school in Sacramento, Calif. "I looked at my options and I didn't think me playing at Indiana was going to be the best thing for me. I had a good opportunity to play overseas and it was a good setup."</div> Source
