The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Indiana Pacers for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell, NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

The trade is scheduled to be announced later Wednesday.

Wow. I hate the trade for Indiana. Sure it's nice to get rid of Jackson and I guess Sarunas who hasn't had an impact.

But why on earth do you guys want Murphy or Dun dun!??!

I went to NBA.com and when I saw this I tough it was a joke or something. ;D

Nice trade, but I think that GSW got lucky with this trade. Al Harrington has played some really nice games this season.

I don't watch games of teams like these, but I haven't seen nothing special from Dunleavy and Murphy. Do they really think that it's gonna change something ?

I like this move. Troy Murphy can stretch the defense for JO to work down low and rebound on the other end. Dunleavy can give the Pacers a big guard who can play three positions and a good shooter/passer. Diogu is full of potential and can be a starter in a year, while McLeod is a solid backup PG. The deal was necessary to get rid of the negative image that Stephen Jackson brought. They'll be shaky at the shooting guard spot but this move is good for the future.

Awesome trade for the Pacers. They're now stocked in the front court. I expect they're going to trade Jermaine and build their team around Diogu and Granger. Diogu is going to be a steal in this draft.

It's impossible to say whether this is a good trade or bad trade yet - there are too many players involved and GOd knows how they are going to be utilized. DOnnie Walsh has something up his sleeve.

Diogu is the best part of this deal for you guys if you can exploit him well. Playing alongside O'Neal should be good for him. He never really fit into Don Nelson's style because he's not a running, fast-breaking type. But in a half-court offense he should be able to shine. He's a pure scorer, high FG%, also knows how to get to the line and can hit his free throws. Also a decent rebounder and will fight to the hoop. He has fantastic footwork and some great post moves, and also a nice jumper out to about 15'-18'. His negatives are primarily that he's undersized for his position at 6'8", doesn't have the bulk to move out big bodies, he's not super fast, and he's not great defensively yet (although he's a decent shotblocker). He also needs to get better at recognizing when double teams are coming and work on passing back out to the perimiter or to cutters. Right now once he gets the ball, he's most likely going to shoot it. I think you will like this guy, I have been a fan of him on the Warriors and I will continue to watch him.

As for Murphy and Dunleavy, well, good luck is all I can say. Yeah, there's some potential there but personally I think these guys are career stiffs. They are both very slow with no leaping ability and play very soft with little aggressiveness or competitive fire. Learn to love Dun's trademark flop-o-rific defensive move. Murphy is consistent but unimpressive (once he settles into a role), Dun is wildly inconsistent. He'll have a few great games and then disappear completely for a week. Maybe Bird can get the best out of him, I don't know. If anyone knows how to make a winner out of slow, "deceptively" unathletic white dudes it's him.

Donnie Walsh and Larry Bird always seem to be ending up as winners in trades. I think Jermaine will most likely be traded mid way through the season, likely to the Bulls for Ben Gordon + PJ Brown maybe?

I don't understand this trade. It's awful for Indiana. Doesn't it?
The question is WHY? The salaries? Years? A good chance for first pick next draft? [IMG]

Diogu can be a monster in the east. Other than that it doesn't make much sense for Indy other than dropping Jackson.

what is the starting frontcourt gonna be??

I just saw the press conference and both Bird and Donnie Walsh are high on Murphy, Dunleavy and Ike. Bird said Dunleavy is a really smart basketball player who knows how to play, Ike is going to be a special post player in the East and Murphy is a double-double career averager. HE said the team's weakness was rebounding and all three of these guys rebound. I didn't realize a team with Jeff Foster and Jermaine O'Neal was a weak rebounding team (??). Also he said that the Pacers want to be able to run if needed and play half-court if needed. Losing Jackson Sarunas and Al Harrington because you want to be able to run? That doesn't make much sense to me. Those players are more run-oriented than the guys they kept Tinsley and J.O. Weird....
Anyway it's obvious Marquis Daniels will play more but who the hell is going to start at the 3, 4 and 5? Talk about a deep frontcourt.

Ron Artest for Peja didn't turn out so well for the Pacers.

I'm glad to be rid of Murphy/Dunleavy, but giving up Ike Diogu was painful. [IMG]

Well... kind of. You see, I hated Murphy/Dunleavy more than I liked Ike Diogu. [IMG]

Diogu could be potential 16/8 or 20/10 player + blocks. You guys will love him. He is not soft like the other two. Forget murphy's double doubles, his defense is attrocious.

Dunleavy can help but he'll never be a prime time player because he's just too passive. Maybe Tinsley will set him up or he can work of J O'Neal. Murphy sadly is just lame on D.

I really liked Ike. He's got a great attitude and plays hard. Sad to see him go. But that was the price to get rid of Murphy and Dunleavy.

Pacers really did not lose much because Harrington was resigned as a free agent right? So you got him for free anyways.
