Whew, great news for Louisville. After losing Donta Smith and Sebastian Telfair, their 2 great recruits, to the draft, I knew we were in need of some help. We got it. David Padgett has left Kansas and was searching for a school. Now I thought he was down to 2 choices, UNC or Nevada, I never knew UL was even in consideration. Boy was I wrong. He got him. I can't find any links but it said on ESPNEWS yesterday that he would be coming to play for Pitino. Padgett left because I think he didn't like the style of play of the Jawhawks. After losing Whitehead, Padgett is a big man and can help with rebounding and etc. down in the paint.
That's huge. Padgett is already being hyped up as one of the top ten big men 2004 (or 2006). Will he have to sit out like a normal transfer or will there be an exception because of the coaching change?
Yeah he's got to sit out like normal transfers. Also, I do know that Pitino said that when they enter Big East play in 2005-2006 season, Padgett will be the one the offense and defense is built around. Pitino had recruited Padgett out of highschool, but had no luck. 2nd time around, however, he now has Padgett.
If Francisco Garcia stays around until his senior year, they will be really, really good. Taquan Dean is a very good PG, and this year they bring in 6'8" PF, ranked 30th in the nation, Juan Palacios, 6'8" Forward, ranked 41st in the nation, Brian Johnson, and a 6'5" Guard, ranked 87th in the nation, Lorenzo Wade. So they are in pretty good shape. If they could have just kept Donta Smith, they would have been that much better.
